Ok Canon you win. Can anyone flying a 5D2 help point me in the right direction to get my Liveview out to our 5.8 downlink??

Have tried with regular 3 pole 1/8 plug but didn't play (Canon cable went missing) so guess i'll have to order the canon stock cable and see if that fixes it up, thx!!

A normal stereo (3 pole) 3.5mm (1/8") plug is fine. The ground is the sleeve (longest pole of the plug nearest the insulated 'handle') and the signal is the ring (NOT the tip).

resuscitation of this thread: 5D2 video out to a monitor or transmitter

SMP I am searching on tips on how to hook up my 5D2. I am recording video on my hexacopter build and I want to hook up a monitor because my camera is to high to focus and frame all of the time. Also I want to prepare to place my 5D2 on the AV200 IDD later and hope to use the same or similar set-up to view from my hexacopter in flight.
Questions:
1) Did the above suggestion hold from ATFlyer? (I tried the Canon stock plug and into a corresponding fittings into a 7 inch monitor and it did not work - could be me - I have another monitor I can try).
2) When you got this going does live view work for stills as well as videos?
