Bumble Bee OEM or Copy of Naza

I guarantee you there is one factory that makes DJI's and Xaircraft's parts in China. And like many other manufacturer's they put their own names on them and change the software interface a little. What worries me is that I just paid $1600 for DJI equipment that is most likely the same Xaircraft "toy standards" equipment. I have seen too many resemblances in the plastic housings, the props, the proprietary motor hubs, infmetry, dji instructions listed on Xaircraft's site, etc. I know some other products that are all made in the same factory in China as well and they have some differences. I just hope that the DJI guys, who have been around for a while, at least have better components and software to give the factory to assemble. I'm betting they do but I really don't know.

I am actually really tempted to buy one and try it out and open it up and check out the components. We will be even more worried if they bring out a 600$ full featured with gps version :)

It is a software limited version of the Naza OEM'd from DJI. Quad only and no support for a camera gimbal, while the hardware is the same as the Naza inside the box the firmware is much different. I suppose if one were talented enough with assembly level programming it might be possible to hack the Bumblebee to take Naza firmware, but why go through the bother, the price isn't that much different and by the time you pay for shipping from China its probably less expensive to buy a Naza locally.

Well, this is why I'm thinking about it: As far as i can see, the NAZA F450 kit is good for learning / practicing to fly, but not so good for attaching a camera (my ultimate goal) and I’d prefer to practice with WKM as soon as possible anyways. This model looks similar to the x650 (i.e. larger, potential for x8, and appears to be able to accommodate the same camera mounts),which would get me closer to where I need to be and would give me more room to grow/practice with video before going with something more $$ like CineStar.

[I could buy a x650 from xaircraft but too many complaints, and despite what xaircraftusa is saying online about being back with better communications, they still have yet to reply to my 2 emails (one sent 2 weeks ago and anothersent 2 days ago), so at this point I’m not going to give them my money no matter what, if only out of principle.]

Another approach I’m considering as a noob (please feel freeto tell me if I’m nuts), is to buy the cinestar 6 WKM kit but only assemble it as a quad for practice. Then as I learn/grow I can add camera mounts, extra motors, etc, better gimbals until I get to my full system. I figure that it is well made of fairly robust CF and whatever crashes I experience will endure minimal $$ and help me better understand the design anyway. Could be way off base on this thinking though.

My ultimate goal is to be able to capture the same quality video footage Ken does (rock on RTRyder) and so I’m assuming eventually I’ll end up at a $8K+ cinestar type bird like him. I realize there is a steep piloting learning curve, and it will take a while with lots of practice, but I’m hoping to minimize the number of copters I go through before getting to the end. The NAZA 450 kit seems limited in regards to camera mounts to me, where this Bumble Bee appears to offer more options for APV and room for growth. My line of thinking could easily be flawed though. Truth is, after many dozens of hours researching all my options online and in these forums, I feel more confused and much less confident where to spend my $$ and time than when I started.

My version of Bumblebee

Hi there, I am as curious as everyone else to see if it's a toy or has the potential to perform as a mid size quad copter.
I can get the frame for only $90 which has a minimum buy of 10 (wholesale) ARF $280 obviously these are dealer price.

I'm trying to convince hobbylord to make a special edition with a more powerful motors and better propellers. As you guys noticed and base on what I have heard ST550 is basically a NAZA/DJI with some limitations. But I guess the new one as I talked to one of the people at hobbylord is upgradable and GPS ready meaning you can have your add-ons and telemetry compass and GPS. They also claimed that they are working on camera gimbal so a little wait would not be bad at all. It's okay if they are all made in the same factory. The point is they will try and try and eventually would bring us an awesome robot with great capabilities at the right price. Where exactly do we think a Draganfly is made?! They just had better thoughts in a corporation look but its all the same. Now tell me what do you think of this Quads look? could be geared up by WKM and some scorpion motors.
