Hello Everyone,

Yep, after flying cheap quad for a while now, I want to build a 450mm that will carry a GoPro and FPV.

I am pretty good with electronics, so putting it together won't be an issue. However can you please help me to make sure following list is good to start with:

1. 450mm Carbon Fiber Frame (http://www.ebay.com/itm/450-Carbon-...o_Control_Toys&hash=item1c1e8fe75e&rmvSB=true)

2. 200mm Carbon Fiber Landing Gear (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shock-Resis...594847?hash=item43e5d2a01f:g:KtsAAOSwRLZUByVQ)

3. 1045 Carbon Fiber Propeller (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1045-10x4-5...221716?hash=item43cf35d9d4:g:0BgAAOSwEK9UDrl5)

4. MarsPower MA2212 KV1000 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-MARSPOWE...183283?hash=item2ee1f14db3:g:Rx8AAOSwpdpVXAnD)

5. EMAX 20A 5V ESC (http://www.ebay.com/itm/4x-Emax-Sim...139656?hash=item33a5de4608:g:~qIAAOSwLVZVpIPx)

6. DJI Naza-M V2 + GPS Combo (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Multi_Rotor_Flight_Controller_GPS_Combo.html)

7. Power Distribution Board (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Quadcop...332024?hash=item1e97c5a7b8:g:h6gAAOxyaoFSDqiA)

8. Turnigy Multistar 5200mah 3S Battery (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turnigy-Mul...357229?hash=item3f571b766d:g:OWYAAOSwgQ9V47T4)

9. Lipo Alert Buzzer (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-RC-Lipo...779853?hash=item1ea34d6f4d:g:sWIAAOSwgQ9V3Sxn)

10. Turnigy 9x Transmitter & Receiver (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Turnigy-9X-9Ch-Transmitter-w-Module-8ch-Receiver-Mode-1-v2-Firmware/231762735876?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20131003132420&meid=515293bf0a1f41a7be5940a910fd2eb1&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=251623153974)

11. Fatshark Predator v2 FPV (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._FPV_Headset_System_w_Camera_and_5_8G_TX.html)

12. Gimbal for GoPro (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brushless-G...412785?hash=item23549cba31:g:ZVUAAOSw-vlVoPqb)

13. GoPro FPV connector cable (http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=165_74&products_id=1296) and 3ch Video Switchboard (http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29651__Hobbyking_3_Channel_FPV_Video_Switcher.html)

Overall, it will cost me about $900 including misc items that i will need. What do you guys think? Perhaps a bit overkill for first quad? To be honest, I do not think I will build another one soon so I wanted to build something that will last for a while.

Hi,
Don´t know the frame and the motors but I think you should bet on something with more quality. A motor that cost 7$ mus be pretty bad. And you risk losing all the expensive gear because of some bad quality motors. And you should use motors with less KV and 4S batteries.

Not sure if that one is clone, but yes. I have sunnysky on mine with those ESCS and never had any problem.

Experiment on Ecalc to see what fits you best.

Ok. After doing more research and getting input from many people, here is my revised list.

Rest is the same. I got two questions:
1. The battery is rated 10c constant. Motors have 15A MAX continuous current. Will the battery handle 4 of these motors along with FPV equipment?
2. I am not sure what props should I get for this motor with 4s battery. Some say 10 inch is good, some say use 8.

I would stay away from the multistar battery, we have seen that most aircraft need more then 10c discharge rate. the best area to aim is around the 20-30c discharge range.

for a 4s battery with 980kv motors, i would aim for the 9-10 inch diameter props with a pitch of 4-6 inches. typically a APC brand prop made for multirotor would be a 9x4.5 mr /mrp
