Building an FPV Naza

A mate has asked me to build him a Flame Wheel with Naza controller. He wants it to do a bit of FPV flying...very brave as it will be his first heli! Good thing the Flame Wheel is so strong!

I just need to make sure I think of everything before I give him a final price. This needs to be a complete system for someone who doesn't have anything!
  1. Flame Wheel, Naza, 4 motors, 4 esc's, 8 props (bundle from Geoff)
  2. 2x 3S batteries
  3. Fatshark long range transmitter, goggles and cable for gopro.
  4. Futaba transmitter/receiver FASST system
  5. Battery charger
  6. Battery buzzer
Please let me know if I have forgotten anything!

Also, with the Futaba FASST system and a Fatshark long range transmitter, any idea of possible range? Is there a lightweight telemetry system that can be used with the fatshark goggles?

Cheers,

Gunter.

Gunter, I think that the F450/Naza combo is a great FPV system. I would stay with the Naza kit as the components seem to work very well together. You can mix and match but why? With the Naza you will not need a buzzer. Just set up the battery monitor to match the 3S batteries. It will land when they reach the low limit and flash before that. i am not a big fan of the Fatshark system. I have a 5.8gHz 600mW vTx with a Blue Beam antenna and a compatible receiver/antenna that I feed into Vizux 920 goggles. I also have a pair of Headplay goggles that I picked up for $99. They are great for isolation from ambient light but I dislike them for the same reason. I am looking for a set of monocle goggles that I can have a HUD as well as line of sight. The RC Tx/Rx are a matter of personal preference and your mates choice. Cheers and a Merry Christmas!

Hi Gunter you may want to ask your friend what sort of distance hes thinking fpv

as it seems alot folks want 72mhz for extra range

not sure what sort of range is poss with 2.4

theres loads of info over on the fpvlabs forum

like Ed says RC Tx/Rx is a personal choice but worth a look before buying

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I'll have a look at the fpvlabs forums for more info. I also had a thought that the naza LED could be mounted up front so you can see the low battery warning in the goggles.

Gunter.
