hi Dale

Gunters just started another thread on a naza flamewheel fpv build

there was a thread sometime back about rigging gopro for fpv cam

i maybe wrong but thought there was mention of a slight delay in video received when gopro used as the fpv cam

maybe better to use a conventional fpv cam to actualy fly by and use the gopro to record ya flights

hopfuly somone will chime in and correct if misunderstood

have a look back through threads loads of stuff about gopro and fpv

also have a look at some of Juz fpv videos especialy ( fpv quadcopter freestyle ) great realy inspiring fpv

hope you dont mind Juz but thats gotta be in the top ten of fpv videos me thinks

the delay with a gopro is almost nothing, BUT, from my research into it, the main worries are the gopro battery packing up mid flight and/or the memory card hitting a bad sector. both instances will leave you blind.

from my experience, the main issue with the gopro is that it's not good (as an fpv cam with goggles) in anything other than bright even light. i could see almost nowt when i went from light to shade and also when the sun was low in the sky. i was practising with fpv on an rc buggy, using the gopro.

fpv cams are much better at dealing with this and are better at resolving the immage when there's a mix of bright sun and dark ground.

most of the chaps on FPVLab use a dedicated fpv cam, with the video tx and osd wired into the flight pack. you can then see how much juice you have left.

they use the gopro as a secondary cam to capture the flight in hd.

Thank you Plingboot,
That makes alot of sense. I was wanting OSD, but wasn't sure how to remove it from the completed video which is why I started to consider the GoPro as I can have the best of both worlds as long as the GoPro is seeing the same as the FPV cam.

In my original post I had configured my question for FVP using the following:
FPV system: (after it gets sorted and is flying with stability)
Cam: FPV-Fever F5202C 520 lines CCD Camera plus 2 axis camera mount
Down/Up link: FPV-FEVER TR5800D2 5.8G/500mW PNP system (or 200mW)?
Headset: Flytech FV-01 or FatShark? (5.8Ghz)
DVR: PV500eco
note: I've also looked at the offerings from ImmersionRC and would consider those as opposed to the above.

The thinking was that I would use the FVP cam as the downlink to a flashcard DVR attached to the receiving side due to the weight factor. I started to consider the GoPro only because of the clarity (HD vs 520 lines).

What is your opinion of the DJI 2215 motor and 30A ESC's vs the Torxpower 800kv or Tiger Pancake's? I've watch (with great interest) many of the posted video's on both Vimeo and YouTube - even some builds - but haven't seen (or read) any good reasons (comparisons) of why to use one motor / EX vs another one. I supposed it's experience, price and maybe a bit of what the stockist happens to carry.

the quest continues....I appreciate all of the input!

Got to agree there with PB.. If you can push the boat out go for the WKM over the Naza but if you just want to give it a go then the Naza complete framewheel kit takes some beating

Dave

Have you got any footage to post from the hard mounted gopro and the F450?
