Battery for the AV130

Any suggestions on what type of battery I should use for the Av 130 with Skyline gimbal controller? It says its safer to use a source independent of the FC.

This is exactly what I need to know also. I thought probably a 2S but don't know the mAh. Obviously want to keep the weight to a minimum. Maybe this one. Any Suggestions.

I use the Zippy compact, they are lighter and smaller than many alternatives. 1000 mah 2s if the videotx allows low voltage supply or 3s if the videotx needs the high voltage, i go straight to the videotx but always have a voltage regulator before rx, servos and skyline. As i use the xt60 connector as a main power supply i converted the gimbal circuit and batteries to jst connector.
Reading back it sounds like complicating things...maybe it is, maybe not :tennis:

Makes perfect sense thanks. What type of voltage regulator set up are you using. Rc-drones sells a prewired 5v or 6v Bec with servo leads that works well for gimbals. Would this type of set up work from 2s to av 130 and skyline controller? http://www.rc-drones.com/SBEC_harness.php

I am sure the rc-drones version will be fine. Just in case you don't have problems with some dyi:

I bought 10 of these and so far the 6 i have put to work behaved well. Output tension can be set with a trimmer. I just soldered the cables i like to have and then covered them with shrinking tube. It's 3A, a little less than the one of your link.

Thanks Clauz, I believe 5amps is preferable for the skyline. I remember reading that somewhere. But regardless I'm sure you can find a similar regulator with higher amps. For the popularity of these gimbals I find it hard to find some very basic info. But this has been helpfull so thanks again jem and clauz.
