Aerial DP
Finally had a reason to get me butt in gear with the ribcage post i promised a while back. Here is one mans opinion from an aerial point of view
Just got my pre ordered Back-Bone hero frame and wanted to give you guys a breakdown on how it instals, how it works and an overall kloner opinion on if it’s worth doing to yours. I started off with a brand new hero3+ black with a hero touch bacpac and a Back-Bone ribcage mod kit. Then i purchased a couple decent lenses to see what this is all about. Heres my review

Assembly was a piece of cake, less than an hour, nothing was dauhnting but somehow i wound up using/loosing/never having all the bolts so all the delay was me waiting for mcmaster carr to get me 2 bolts.... It comes with nice 1/4-20 mount that really locks this thing to stuff, no more velcro for this one. I tried several lenses but am settling in on this KOWA brand, it is pretty clean, sharp, fast....
So on location was curious what this would do in low lite. This was half hour past sunset, couldn't see any of that detail with the naked eye. little grainy
Bordhead Brian Howard had invited me out to demo some rigs and since i just built all this new gear, was time to break it out. It was Bordheads first attempt at gimbaling so go easy on him, overall he did pretty good riding shotgun with the gunslinger....... the rig had a slight overgain issue at extreme deflection but it was the first time it had done more than a maiden. Gimbal was brand new, most of this is no post till the end, that was the first flight the gimbal had and it had parkinsons. without further text in the way, the back-bone ribcage in action
I'm still torn, think if i had better camera setup skills could still get to a higher level than this. i'll keep playing with it, get jcmonty to help me dial it in and we will be back with some more updates and opinions as it develops here
