AVL58 and zenmuse?

Hi all,

I'm about to go down the FPV route and I have a zenmuse h3-2d which I like. The AVL58 seems to be the transmitter to go for and so I want to know if anyone else is using the two? I would plan to use the video out plug that came with my zenmuse but I'm not sure about soldering for use with the avl58 transmitter!?!

Anyone else using this combo?

TIA

I had this combo on my F550 before moving the AVL58 to my S800. It works fine but like you say, you'll need to solder.
2 wires from the Zenmuse output cable (video and ground) and two to the AVL58 (power and ground).

Is it best to buy the avl58 with and IOSD then? I had planned to only buy the avl58 but it looks easier to install with the IOSD?

My zenmuse output cable has 3 wires... Yellow black and red. I guess the yellow will be video out but why does the zenmuse need power out (black and red?) if I buy just the avl58 where will I solder the the yellow white to? I believe the video transmitter needs it's own power supply and the just the video input?!

If you look at the wiring diagram above that should answer your question. Don't let the soldering intimidate you, watch some tutorials on line and be patient. Try practicing on some other wires ahead of time and just take it slow. I have come to really enjoy soldering, its actually a major stress reliever for me. I don't know the exact answer to your question because i dont use this exact set up, but i know if you sit down with the diagram and the wires in front of you, it will make more sense.

Totally agree with what you said but the diagram above does not relate to my wire output from the zenmuse jack. I have a yellow/black/red wire coming from the zenmuse jack... I think if i buy the avl58 it will obviously need the yellow wire for the video feed input. but im not sure about the red/black wire coming from the zenmuse?! what are they for?

Got to use it for the first time today... Weather has been terrible these last few weeks!

I've simply put the jack that came with the avl58 into the zenmuse gcu... No soldering required at all. Nice quick install too.

its excellent so far. I don't want the iosd at the moment and there is a bit of info on screen anyway from the gopro zenmuse.
