XAircraft Autopilot issues for New Hexa

Ok so just bought my new hexa with all the trimmings (AHRS V2, FC1212-P and Autopilot). She flys like a beauty when the autopilot is not plugged to the FC1212-P. But even when not engaged in GPS ATT or RTH and plugged up to the FC for some reason the Autopilot is conflicting with controls, causing slight yaw twitch, throttle twitch. Also I have sat out in the open repeatedly for about 10mins plus without flying her to get GPS lock, and still I have had no luck with GPS lock yet, the green light still flashes fast. I just want to know if I am missing something or my worst nightmare of it being faulty even though brand new may be true. oh and I have tried to reflash the firmware quite a few times but to no avail......Help!

I just got the same thing thing recently. Actually I took the electronics and motors off a new X650 V-8 that I didn't like and put them on a new hexa frame. I haven't flown the hexa outdoors yet.

I assume you have the compass as well. That gave me some yaw issues on the x650 V until I properly calibrated it (by rotating the X650 V horizonatally and vertically.) As far as the Autopilot, I got a GPS lock very quickly, I would say less than a minute. The compass problems screwed me up and I had a slight crash, but broke some parts and then I decided to switch to the hexa which is a much stronger frame (although heavier.)

I found it difficult to get the the GPS cable all the way seated. Also, I have a UBEC and I discovered that the electronics did not seem to like 6V, but when I switched it to 5V everything was fine. To me, your problems sound more like defective electronics, but I am certainly not an expert.

Good Luck,

Russ

Yep I calibrated the compass a few days ago and that seems to have sorted the yaw twitch but not the vertical throttling twitch. I disconnect the Autopilot and it stops doing it. GPS ATT or RTH are not active when it does this sos don't know why it does. I went out today and waited and waited to get a signal, tried different places too. I also found that if I plugged the Hexa up to the battery that if it sitting for a while without the motors going one out of the 6 esc's get hot. I assume that one esc is powering the brains etc. So I decided to power the brains from my usb from my laptop. Anyway no luck whatsoever. So I am still no closer to knowing what the heck the problem is. I do get a altitude reading from the Xaircraft centre so it seems to work but no gps readings and the gps time is set to year 1980 and has not updated at all.

Did you ever sort out your gps issues? If not could you post a picture of your copter with gps?

Hi Divertom80

Hi, hope you get the hex up flying soon. Here is my site with tutorials I have put together to help anyone who has the FC-1212-S or P series controllers. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1670862 This might be good reading while you are away. All my tutorials can be used on any quadframe. I am currently getting ready to do a Hex build myself with the Sixcopter med-weight Hex. I will be using for testing purposes the S series controller with compass and gps. I happen to like it better than the P series for new copter testing. I have all quads X-830's at this point, great power to weight ratio with dynamically balanced motors, which is why I keep buying them, so this will be my first Hex configuration. If you should need any help I will try to assist after you read my tutorials. They will walk you through every aspect of the FC S & P series and how to set up copter including weight and balance, EMI isolating, tuning and adjustments.
