Hi I'm not new to rc just quads. I want to just mess around and do some lookyloo from a birds eye. I've found a ar drone 2.0 with two batts for 150.00 or other thought was a wltoys v686g. Then maybe a syma xs5cw . I like the fpv idea of it to see what you filming , and ease of recording to my phone with those. I don't need anything fancy just semi decent video and I may never even progress to higher level quads. Whatcha think

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com Mr. @thegoaty !

When you're down in that price range it's really hard to say with any certainty what will work and what won't work. The video monitor on the wltoys v686g might work but have very limited range or ok range but a shaky video display. the AR Drone on the other hand is a brand name product with a pretty good history and company behind it.

The smaller Syma quads are pretty fun so the one you mentioned might be ok.

I think your model number for the Syma quad is messed up, i searched it and found you posted the same questions elsewhere today. not a problem, good luck with your purchase. i'd probably get the AR Drone if it's in good condition

I watched a review of the v686g and they said the range for the monitor was 500 yards . It operates on 5.8 for the monitor and 2.4 for the controller. I meant to put the syma model x5sw.

The AR Drone is what got me into this addiction. It is quite amazing for what it is. I haven't flown mine in at least a year. Using a phone or tablet to control is a bit different than using a real radio transmitter. The optical sensors on the bottom are really neat. When you hit "takeoff" it jumps to 2 or 3 feet, and just sits there, waiting for the next command. Parrot is a big player in these things.
