After months of engineering and testing, we are proud to say that the Icarus 2D gimbal quadcopter is going into production and is expected to ship at the end of February.

The Icarus 2D features a forward facing 2 axis gimbal stabilized using licensed AlexMos code. The gimbal is CNC'd from aircraft grade aluminum and is compatible with the GoPro hero 3 and 3+. Our gimbal design is extremely lightweight allowing for longer flight times and further FPV flying.

Very nice looking design. A few questions please. Seeing that the pitch gimbal is on the aircraft and camera's left hand side, is there a way to get video out of the GoPro for FPV? What size is this quad as measured diagonally motor spindle to spindle? Lastly, of the 9 and 10 inch props, which works best with the 3300 and configuration as shown? Thanks.

Why buy this when you can get the real deal from TBS Discovery Pro for $600 with many more extras / sophistication, huge support group and far better quality product?

Maybe, but it seems to me that you are making a lot of assumptions about the Icarus, sight unseen. I like the Disco, but there are lots of players in this segment. So let's see how this one shake out. I am interested in the PDU and the location of the solder points, etc. And $200 more or less buys your motors and ESC. Competition is good for all of us.

Not sure what you mean by "the real deal" but our design is of high quality and performs as well as any other gimbal on the market.

Thanks Chip. We designed the gimbal to work with the HDMI out on the GoPro using the 90 degree cable that ready made rc sells so FPV is no problem. The measurement diagonally is 460mm and we have had the best performance, when using stock DJI motors, with 10" props. Even with 10" props, they are not in the cameras view :) Also, here is a picture showing our power distribution circuit. Please note that this is a photo of an older prototype board, and more additions have been made since this photo was taken, but they are all secret :)

Here is the video demonstrating FPV Mode and Stable Mode.
Can really see the gimbal doing work at the end of the video :)
