APC New MR Props WTF?

I need to vent a little. I ordered the new 16 inch APC props and after anxiously awaiting their arrival, I receive them and found that they do not include the adapter rings! I ordered them through my phone so I didn't see the part that said "not included". Now I have to wait another week for the stupid little $3.50 adapter ring kit to show up. What kind of **** is that? Why didn't they include the ****ing adapter rings?? I needed my chopper this weekend and it looks like APC is out to **** me over $3 ****ing dollars. End rant.

Put some shrink tube on the prop adapter. Layer by layer till you get the desired width. Works better than any adapter ring I tried.

It is true and a bit strange that APC includes the adaptors with all of their props EXCEPT the multirotor version. Given the variety of motors and prop adaptors used on multis you would think that adpator rings would be just as imporrtant as on any other RC aircraft.

That said I have a plastic tub full of spare/leftover prop adaptor rings so when I first bought a set of the APC multirotor props I was able to dig out what I needed from my "stash". Lately I've been testing the HQ Prop Graupner clones and I'm finding them to work just as well at a fraction of the cost, plus they come with the adaptor rings. Sizes are limited at the moment but I think they'll be a good source once production is fully ramped up.

Yeah Ken I agree.. and I have a tub full of adapters .. guess now I am glad I have been saving them. Wonder if a quick fix might be to go to the hobby store and look for carbon shafts or maybe a kite store or archery shop and make your own adapters real quick if the heat shrink trick doesn't work. Also might look at some straws from the grocery store.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
the hole in the prop is 1/4" probably if they're like the 14" APC multi-rotor props I'm flying at the moment. I didn't get the adapter rings either, didn't know they were an option actually for these props. What works for me is to take a drinking straw like the ones you buy by the box in supermarkets. I cut a short piece and slip it over a pair of needlenose pliers to stretch it a little bit. It then slides over the 6mm prop shaft and is thin enough for the 1/4" bore to slide over it. Heat shrink might work but the stuff i have has been too thick, the straws are just right.

i'll have to order some of the adapters so I can do away with the straws. fwiw, the props are ok, they need a little work to balance correctly but they only come in matched diameters and pitch so there's a bit of a limit on what you can do with them. i prefer an inch or two of pitch higher on my bottom props as it makes everything seem less like i'm driving on ice when flying, if that makes any sense. :)

Heck, I wish we didn't have to use the stupid prop adaptors in the first place. Just give me a nice small bore, I've got a reamer from the good old days, more accurate and stable than an adaptor anyway.

A little background. I'm away from home in a hotel and I didn't bring my extended parts stash. APC is sending the rings no cost this morning which was my expectation. I told them if I can make that mistake then others can too and they should just include them as a matter of course. These props have much larger holes than the SF series so those rings do not fit. Oh well. These props are way stiffer than SF and thicker. They look and feel of quality. They are crazy sharp, like you can cut your veggies with them. I will report back on these compared to SF. I haven't seen anyone on here using the 16" props yet.
