If there is anyone out there still interested in MikroKopter stuff, I have a question.
Has anyone used a Graupner MX20 Tx with any MK copter and FCv0.86 ?
If so what has your experience been like and did you use the telemetry feature.

YEP!

Very nice, shame the side sliders have been removed.. They take some programming to set them up for the MK.. Talk to Geoff at www.quadcopters.co.uk he is doing them for clients on a regular basis

Thanks Dave
The interest is prompted because we now have GPS and have run out of channels on our DX7.
You need a 3 position programmable switch for camera tilt control and now another one for GPS control.
Having another few knob controls looks useful for parameter tweaking and telemetry has been a long term wish.

Open to alternative suggestions but this does seem a reasonably priced upgrade in capability.

There a nice radio , I have used them in my last 4 builds and some really useful features on them . I have a few in stock if you need one .
Regards slider for video camera , i set them up with the dial for the camera tilt or you can use a 3 way switch with 3 levels of tilt which is easiest to control in flight.

Being a bit of a scrooge I've just brought the MX-16. Eight channels is enough for the moment I think. Not set up yet but coming from a DX7 with no Jeti I'm really looking forward to using the Telemetry.

i have one with my hexa/y6. initially i didnt like it, the dx8 just looks anf feels better, but after some time with it, it's grown on me.

its smaller than the dx8, as is it's screen, but the blue backlight is very good.

there's loads of menu stuff but the mk wiki pages are actually useful in helping you set it up correctly.

i had a bright idea to use the hott smart box as a second screen, but in reality it doesnt work asi'd hoped. it mirrors the telemetry screens, but doesnt display regular menus screens. the mk telemetry screens are located within a sub menu, rather than being the standard screens, so the smart box just displays an error message. i'm sure graupner/mk could sort this with a firmware update.

i've also kept the centre sprung throttle. hoping to actually fly my mk droidworx conversion in the next few days, so will quickly find out whether or not the spring is good or disasterous.

all that said, only wish jeti had got their radio out sooner :tennis:

Thanks guys for the info. Seems like a good way to go. Just have to get the GPS working as it should... seems to have a mind of its own at the moment.

Plingboot..
Yes, GPS shield is fitted and today's the day for the first test flight. Fingers crossed. Close to a window inside it will pickup 5 or 6 satellites but further into the room 1 or none. The original problem was due to not having set the DX7 3 way switch (off-PH-CH) up correctly. I had another Tx channel cross talking to that channel. I'd been mucking about with parameters on the TX not aware of what they actually did. Lesson learnt ... RTFM.
The MX20 is replacing a DX7 as we ran out of channels and we set it up last night. It's a very impressive piece of kit, just wish it had been around before we bought the Spektrum.
The telemetry works well but has so many display modes its hard to choose what to use by default. Monitor single parameter or a screenful ? Experience will tell.
I have yet to update the firmware on the receiver as per instructions on the MK wiki. It seems to work well without it and I wonder why it is required... anybody know?
I bought it from Quadcopters.uk, a totally painless experience - thanks Geoff.

I switched from a JR-9503 to the MX-20. My 1st impression was that the MX-20 looked like a step backwards however after flying with the radio and using the MK telemetry screens I'm really impressed. The 12 channels gives room to grow and everything fits my hands comfortably. I do miss the sliders but guess I can live without them. I'm happy with the Graupner.

The JR-9503 now collects dust.
