Anyone successfully using EZUHF with Win8?

Bartman

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Been trying unsuccessfully for a while to use EZUHF with Windows 8. According to the website there's a fix which I've done but I still get the "Unable to connect to EZUHF" error message when trying to connect.

Has anyone been able to get it to work?

Thanks,
Bart

I have it working fine on my Samsung Ultrabook with Win8, I have upgraded to Win8.1 and not used it since then so I should probably test it before ai really need to use it. Okay so I gave it a quick test and it is flaky but works.

I don't remember doing any "fix" just loaded it up and plugged it in and it worked.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
you're able to connect and access all of the pages of the interface with the Tx and Rx?

Yes but I have to disconnect the USB and reconnect then it is letting me do one operation sometimes two, very flaky but just usable.

Pity the software is so bad considering the hardware is so good, frustrating.

Even able to use the spectrum analyser.

Version 1.38 of the Tools by the way, EZUHF Tx and diversity Rx.

I might try reloading the software and drivers, see if that improves it at all.

yup, I've been trying to use ver 1.38 but can't get it to connect. it connects on the first page but the others are useless. this has been an ongoing problem for quite a while now, very surprising that they can't get it worked out.

win XP doesn't seem to work either so I can only use my iMac but it isn't quite a workstation with the room for a heli, radio, tools, etc

:(

I had not used it since upgrading to Win8.1, I will try and reload in the next few days and maybe see if a reload of the driver helps.

Will let you know how I go.

Might also be worth jumping on Sassen in the Immersion folder at FPV Labs, he seems to be able to help sometimes if he chooses. There is probably also a thread there that may have some info to help get it firing properly.

In the mean time I hope the Immersion RF meter I am getting for Christmas does not need firmware or software loaded to use it.

i've tried it and haven't received a response. i suspect he's unable to fix the problem as it has been out there for some time. i've got working older firmware on my Tx and Rx but not being able to hook up to the computer is a bit of a hassle.

Good luck with it and thanks for the replies.

just got a reply from Ssassen (Sander of ImmersionRC) and he seems to think it's a problem with my computer but I'm skeptical. I"m starting to regret not buying Dragonlink. :(

i suspect they all are but every time I try to work on it I kill a couple of hours futzing with the dodgy interface and I'm not running the latest firmware because that was dodgy as well when I bought this stuff.

i'm happy to be on the ImmersionRC bandwagon but the stuff has to work. its called EZ after all!

thanks for the replies.

If anyone else is following this, what operating system are you using with the ImmersionRC tools software to make it work? I understand with Win7 it works well but I don't have any Win7 machines available and that isn't exactly a desirable Win version at this point.

So I did a couple of re-installs, tried the repair and fully deleted the drivers and reloaded them and also went through the compatibility troubleshooting thing and it is maybe a little better but not much, I can get settings loaded and I can read the settings but I need to disconnect and reconnect the USB after each read or write.

I have upgraded to the V1.48 firmware okay.

Workable but I would certainly like it to work properly all the time.

Bart, we keep a small Micro PC running XP for the heli (and Immersion) stuff. We just bought a new monster laptop for smaller portable roughcuts running Win 8 and swear to god I hate Win 8 even more than... no more than anything thus far. Please tell me Win 8 gets easier. Good luck!!

It does get a little easier but I personally treat it with utter contempt, really not sure what they are thinking.

Anyway one thing than can make a big difference using some USB devices is the USB cable that you use, I have found some better than others, worth trying a few to help improve the connection. I just swapped my "good" cable for a cheap lightweight one and then did five different operations in a row.

Still no resolution with this from ImmersionRC. They posted a short time ago that they think they've figured out the problem but it's been weeks and a solution still hasn't been released. The problem seems to be that the USB drivers will initially work and allow the ImmersionRC software to link to the Tx or Rx but the connection will fail if you try to do anything other than view the first page. Some people report no problems while others are having the same problem I'm having.

I've considered removing the other multi-rotor related software bundles (Mikrokopter, DJI, 3DR, Hoverfly, Eagletree, Castle) from the computer so as to give the ImmersionRC drivers less clutter to interfere with them but that shouldn't be necessary as the other drivers all seem to work fine with each other being there. At no time did I try to run the IRC software while another package was running and have even tried running the IRC Tools software from a fresh reboot but nothing.

Rather than operate my EZUHF system with old firmware that can't be updated or configured properly I've decided to replace everything with a Dragonlink UHF system and I'm happy to report that that went exactly as described in the manual and it is ready for its first flight once the weather breaks.

Steve,

I've made peace with Windows 8, Microsoft is trying to make an interface that is consistent across phones, tablets, and laptops/desktops so I've decided to just go with it. It's not that bad once you get over missing the old desktop system and now that I've finally found where the power icon is located I can actually switch it off and feel that confidence that comes from knowing it's actually off. :) you have to try to embrace the little things.
