Hoverfly Altitude Hold - best I can get is slowly dropping

It's his business. Of course he's going to take it serious. He and the rest of his team have worked really hard and continue to do so.
They're more than willing to listen to constructive feedback, just present it with the respect that you would like people to give you.

Yep..! Agreed! :)

Not that it matters, I haven't found a single post, in any forum, where Storm was happy or pleased with anything, or part of any solution. I thought maybe here, I would have escaped. *sigh*

I join forums if only i have problems or questions, want to buy or sell. I do report on problems I found. I do not hang around just for fun.

Yeah, I can blow that up.
Great.
Increase your gain until you get pulsing (as described in the manual). Then back if down. AH gain is the number when the switch is turned on. When you find a good value, copy it to the other side of the AH switch. Keep in mind that gain values don't really mean anything unless you are comparing identical ships, so don't compare it to anyone else's. A high (or low or medium) gain setting is neither good nor bad. Just adjust your gain until it holds altitude well.

Also, make sure you have foam over your pressure sensor and make sure your protective cover is painted black so no light gets in.

I've been playing with AH a little and can get it to reasonably hold a good altitude but it fluctuates quite quickly up and down a foot or two. If this is the pulsing when I lower the gain then it doesn't hold altitude. Mine is pretty aggressive with its adjustments. Luckily I always fly in manual mode and don't have to worry about the other features. It's just that I figured it would be nice to have the other features dialed in well.

I get same results with my ship.

We are working on improvements to altitude hold. In the mean time, putting a piece of open cell foam on your pressure sensor can help with this kind of thing. You should be able to get pretty darn good results with the current version of altitude hold.

George,
I was visiting Pete (Efliernz) over the weekend working on some mechanical issues with a couple of gimbals and while on one test flight flicked on the AH for about a minute. It held within 1 meter quite nicely, it looks like some of the things you have done so far have made some nice improvements. Pete hasnt yet bothered to set up his AH but was suitably impressed.

Then i got bored with looking at my hexa hovering in one spot and got back to flying.

Glad to hear it.

The other day, I setup Position Hold and Altitude Hold while coding in the field. I was able to take my attention off of it for a full 10 minutes. When I looked back up, it was still flying in the spot I left it.

Mine was covered from the first flight. Wich sensor do you use? Is it bosch?

I made use of AH today on a job in very windy conditions. Im having to use a servo to fire the shutter on my camera and so it has become very handy to use the AH to free up some brain reserves to enable me to concentrate on firing the shutter and still fly the Hexa. I have somehow got lucky and got my AH to work well from the first gain settings i used, I havent done any tuning of it yet but its holding within 2 feet of its altitude.
Anyway the job i shot today was very windy, i put my Hexa up at a decent height, engaged the AH and for 3-4 minutes moved the Hexa around to get the right shot without having to worry about my throttle control. Im one very happy camper. I have the sensor protected from the sun via the frame plates and the gain settings for me are at 60 on a 3.5kg flying weight. I think at some point Im going to have to buy a 3rd board and then eventually the HF Gimbal board.
