AlexMos Rev1.0...good for anything?

Hi folks, I need some advice as I'm about to pass along an original AlexMos board to a high school student with a Tarot 2D gimbal that needs a new controller. I've offered to give him the board and sensor but if it's garbage then I'd rather not make more of a headache for him than he already has. Is it even worth the trouble for him to convert to it?

Any suggestions?
