AirStock - making money from Drone images/video

Good idea. I'm wondering how you plan to drive traffic though? Getty has years of building their brand, how will you get customers to deviate from their normal "stock hunting" and go to you for just aerial stuff? Also, what is your pricing model going to look like? I saw a previous post that mentioned a 50/50 split. Is that correct? Even Apple only takes 30%, so 50% seems pretty high.

Hi Kilby,

Thanks for the comments and support. We have key contacts in the video production industry and first movers advantage on this market. At the moment there arent many people buying stock uav footage because there isnt a place to buy it from. We want to establish Airstoc as the place of reference for that.

We are still working on it but the pricing model will most likely be very simple, along the lines of 200GBP for 1080p and 300GBP for 4K.

On the revenue split we might implement a tier system to encourage operators to put a good library together. Operators will start receiving 35% and once they have 100 total sales or more receive 50%. If you look at most of the other platforms, contributors receive somewhere between 15% and 25%, so definelty much less than 50%. We want to make sure we strike a good balance between giving uav operators as much money as possible for their footage wilst covering the costs of running and growing Airstoc.
