32bit AlexMos Gen Discussion & Autotune

Thought I'd get a general discussion going on the AlexMos 32bit board with AutoTune.

I downloaded the new firmware tonight and ran autotune. I ran it 3 times trying different ways. Did a back yard test flight. Not bad. Did another autotune based on those settings and then went and tweaked a few non pid settings. I'm pretty impressed. The caveat being it was an easy night to fly as the wind was almost non-existent.

Flew it with a gh4 on a my diy gimbal and diy x8 w/ 3515's avroto's and Naza v2 auw of 18lbs.

The PID settings are very different from what I have been using. While I've been on the low end of the pid's, autotune put them on the higher end. I used the same power settings as before. I think I will try running the power up a little more and do another autotune.

Anyway, those are my first impressions and I'm cautiously optimistic autotune and the 32bit boards are going to be a decent setup in quality for those of us who can't afford a Movi M5.

Let's hear from others on their experience with the Alexmos 32bit board.

Haven't tried autotune yet, but my experience with the 32 bit is almost exactly the same as my 8-bit. Using different PIDs on it, but stabilization is almost identical - don't see any advantages even when I'm using two IMUs.

A little nervous wading into autotuning. Probably do that next week.

We need a AlexMos 32-bit thread... mine is arriving soon and i bet there's plenty of other members getting one too!

I have a mid size gimbal that I'm having problems with in the wind and it's either the 8 bit board or maybe the motors need to be a little larger. Maybe I'll get energized some time and put my 32ibt board on it and test it.

Good idea. Maybe also with some error detection info > If roll vibration occur while tilting copter, roll axis is not balanced correctly vertical.

hmm, i have 3 8bit and 1 32bit units. All of them work great. i did have little problem to set 32bit with 2 IMUs, it took me about 4 hours... normaly, for 8bit is about 25 min :)

Anyway. it look like autotune works different than i do. PIDs are so high, and i see no reason for it. So im using my own settings for now. Ill try few flights today with my PIDs and than will try do autotune instead.
I like bluetooth connection, but i wasnt able to update firmware thru it.
