Building my first multi, a few questions

Thanks Peter, the help here and my daily fiddles with ecalc are starting to make this stuff a lot more clear. I'm getting a bit more confident and starting to get close to ordering my first parts :) Cheers! Dan.

    Airport security and customs

Hehe cool, I was just curious. I do get the occasional 'sir we would like to look in your bag' but that might be due to me looking more like a bum than a photographer. The X666 is a pretty gnarly looking unit so it'll be interesting to see what happens when I fly with it :) Batteries should...

Building my first multi, a few questions

Just re-read your post, I thought you were talking about my LiPo's being rated 15-20degC or something........ I just realised what you meant, there is no way on earth that I can keep my LiPo's 20degC in the environment I shoot while flying, it's impossible. It's -15degC almost every day, and...

Building my first multi, a few questions

Thanks for the links, will check them out. I had not thought of the battery efficiency and props getting brittle, thanks for the heads up. Any ideas how wooden props will perform in the cold? They might handle the temp ok but they might not like the moisture....

Building my first multi, a few questions

OK so I have been having a think and I am abandoning the idea of carrying the SLR. A bit of a grounding has made me realise that I want to use this first quad to learn to fly and once I've done that, to carry my GoPro (and *maybe* a gimbal). If I want to carry the SLR I'll look at building a...

    Propellar pitch

I am learning about multis and looking to build my first quad, I have been using this tool : http://www.ecalc.ch/xcoptercalc.htm?ecalc&lang=en If you haven't already seen that it seems quite useful. I'll keep an eye on this thread though cause the prop size thing isn't making a lot of sense to...

Building my first multi, a few questions

Thanks Peter, I planned to enclose the electrics and we use chemical hand warmers (little pouches that get warm when they contact oxygen) a fair bit so when I get more advanced in the build I'll look at whether there's a way to use one of those to warm the brains up a few degrees. But the ESCs...

    Hello!

Thanks Chris, I am not all that interested in the S800, just a buddy of mine has bought one and it seems to be doing pretty well. But I would prefer to build something myself. The UAP2 platform seems like a good way to go, although I am looking to start with the cheap HK x666 and loads of...

    Hello!

After reading two pages of ramblings that aren't really related to what I want to do with my multi.... yes, I am still interested.

Building my first multi, a few questions

Hey guys, I'm new here just signed up.. been lurking for a few weeks and reading, finally time to start asking some questions :) I want to build a quad that is capable of GoPro filming, but that will be modularly upgradeable and will teach me what I need to know to build and fly one capable of...

    Airport security and customs

Hey guys, I'm new here, looking at building a quad in the next month or two and just doing all my research now. I'm just working on my first tech questions but I do have a random fun question; how many of you guys take your quad on flights with you and have you ever had any problems with...

    Hello!

Hi I'm Dan, I'm a pro photographer looking to add a new dimension to my business.. aerial is basically non-existent where I'm based, and I don't have enough money to buy a real helicopter :) I have a lot of RC experience but only with cars, never played with planes/helis/multis. A buddy of...
