How to get AlexMos to stop Vibrating? Hit it with a Hammer?

Well, I'm not using cheap DIY gimbal, they are nice CNC aluminum gimbals. Actually, the best one I've had is a 2-axis (no yaw) home-built I made.

How to get AlexMos to stop Vibrating? Hit it with a Hammer?

Yeah, I've heard that. But I'm not buying any more gimbals unless there's a guarantee it will work. I was really only interested in aerial video for personal use. I'd just as soon go buy a Solo, and if it doesn't work, just return it. I wanted the higher quality from a Nex vs. GoPro, but at...

How to get AlexMos to stop Vibrating? Hit it with a Hammer?

I'm just about to the point of attempting percussive maintenance on my AlexMos 32 bit controller and gimbal. I have been trying to get this thing working on and off for 2 years. It's always the same thing. Accel calibration is done, multi temp, etc. It's balanced as well as I can given the...

    OnagoFly rtf quad....scam?

Yeah, those claims are impossible. 15 minutes? BS. Outdoor IR collision avoidance? Not possible. That video definitely doesn't come from that aircraft. Does Indiegogo have a report button? I read the big Zano drone investigative reporting that came out this morning, and in it, KS tried to...

Anybody know who was filming Dakar Rally?

No, sorry. My PVR picked it up luckily this year. In the past I had to torrent it.

Anybody know who was filming Dakar Rally?

Still watching backlog of Dakar Rally footage, so no spoilers please! :) This race has always featured tons of full-scale helicopter chase-cam footage, but this year I noticed a lot of really close aerial footage which were obviously done with by drone. It looks really good, and I'm impressed...

    Power Systems for Industrial Heavy-Lift

Wow, so I'm going to guess you're running about 12S 80,000 mAH? So it would take about one hour on a 20A 220V circuit to charge that. Love the music you chose in the video by the way. :)

    Power Systems for Industrial Heavy-Lift

30 minutes with 20 kg?!?! Seriously? How much battery? I find that really hard to believe (sorry).

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

I agree. Writing flight control software from scratch is too much even for some big-ish companies. A lot of people underestimate it. No proof that's what Freefly is doing of course. I do find it strange that their log files are CSV. That's not the format we use.

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

IIRC, there was some very good indication that they were using AP on their older system? There are a lot of companies actually using AP without telling people. (I am in no way implying Freefly is on the Alta, just asking the question since others brought it up).

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

Custom build does not mean it is or isn't using Ardupilot. I have worked with a company that built a totally custom board and loaded AP onto it.

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

What?! Seriously? Yeah, that is SOOOOOOooooooooo bad. Epic Fail. I've also heard the rumors that Freefly is using Arducopter. They would be doing so illegally if they are. What do we know?

    Power Systems for Industrial Heavy-Lift

Ferdinand, that is incredible. Nice work. What's the flight time like when it's fully loaded? Some very impressive motors at KDE. Maybe it's time to revisit the idea of a direct drive mid-large size helicopter...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

There was recently a 2 year old boy who lost an eye. If you think liability on a death is expensive, you should really look at the lifetime disability payments to a person who has been blinded.

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

In my experience, those who instantly jump to blame the pilot, are those with very weak technical skills, usually flying DJI equipment who know nothing about drone technology other than "Insert Plug A into Socket A" at best. Wanting to be able to say "that would never happen to me", but not...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

I've been very much against "flight termination systems", and this is a perfect example of why. This is not safety! It's flying, and you drop it?! The whole idea is predicated on the idea that you're flying in a safe area, and it suddenly starts flying away, and you drop it before it leaves...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Ok, some of my Italian friends have spoken directly with the pilot and found out what happened. The aircraft is using a DJI Wookong-M flight controller. He must have painted the GPS black, I don't know on that yet. Pilot states that it began what appears to have been a "GPS Flyaway", while at...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Arducopter has specific code which will always cut back on total throttle, in order to provide overhead necessary for stabilization. This was done because it's very obvious to us, that, we can't magically create power where none exists. If the copter doesn't have enough power to fly, it's...
