    Anyone see Winged Planet?

It was show a few months back on BBC in the UK under the title of Earthflight. A superb series typical of BBC/Discovery productions. The series included a making of which was fascinating to watch. I remember the 'vulture' , the 'Making Of' showed the full story of its use and near loss . It is...

    Freefly Radian Owners' Thread

Dave, your video does show the Radian does the job for roll rather nicely. What gain setting ? I'm around 130 When you get the tilt fitted it will be interesting to see what gain you need to set. I'm set around 35. It did seem important to get the CX balanced back to front but that gets...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

swisser ... thanks for your input It is possible to go miss the ground school stage and go straight to the exam, it is also possible to fail the open book exam which seems a sad comment on the quality of the ground school. Recent experience has shown that EuroUSC cannot even put an exam paper...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

The only reason they are ad-hoc is the English weather. They actually ask you for two possible dates with the option of cancelling one due to weather.... makes the test more realistic. The flight test is also a rather drawn out affair over a day rather than a focused hour or so. Of course this...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

Thankyou Jes1111 for putting things so succinctly. We could do with a few more UK voices here, where are the other BNUC-S(TM) holders ? The message needs to be spread. andy

    Freefly Radian Owners' Thread

Patn ... I think its because they just work and people are getting on and using them. The FreeFly Radian forum has very few customers with problems which I consider a good sign. This stabiliser was not rushed out and has had a lot of development time behind it. It has also had its software...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

I'm sure this will be rattling some cages around with the people who have already shelled out the money to complete the course but from the experience I had and the others on the same course the complete 2 days was (to understate) a real disappointment. The sooner a good alternative or...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

Blacksails ... The craft specific aspect of the BNUC-S (TM) certificate has always rankled me and EuroUSC are aware of the general disenchantment, especially after last week. It came as a bit of a surprise to some course attendees. Pressed they did seem to suggest they are looking at a...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

Ross .. The Ops manual is given as a template in an appendix to CAP722, download here. Insurance, this company does a UAV specific insurance. You sort of answered my question, flying is like riding a bike once mastered never forgotten. andy

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

Gentlemen, thanks for your input. The situation here in the UK is confused and like UK law always open to interpretation. I'm also of the opinion that, as laid out in CAP722, you not require a BNUC-S but must demonstrate to the CAA that you can operate a UAV safely by allowing them to inspect...

If you can fly one multi rotor can you fly them all ?

It strikes me that all multirotors are now essentially identical in flight dynamics, you push the stick this way and it does what it was asked to do. You can fly them all with two joysticks using any flight controller, airframe configuration , motors or speed controllers. You do not need to...

    Radian stabilizers

Dave ... tilt module is fixed vertically to camera platform on the port side next to the drive pulley. This is practical for the CX as it is narrower than the usual DSLR. Ross and others ... I have to confess its Lec who is the pilot, I just watch in amazement, so praise is due to him rather...

    Radian stabilizers

Anaka ... CX730 has stabilisation on. Can't see the point of not using it !!!! Not tried the Radian with any other camera. andy

    Radian stabilizers

We did try a bit of tweaking but the roll never came good. I'm with jes1111 over this, we can't mix gimble and aircraft control in a single unit. They are basically two independent systems and need controlling as such. andy

    Radian stabilizers

A major difference between the Zenmuse and other stabilisers seems to be that it performs a more complicated startup routine which I'd guess maps the movement of the gimble+camera as a whole. This makes predicting operating behaviour simpler and perhaps compensates for the use of cheaper...

    Radian stabilizers

Iris ... yes Y6. It was flown unaided by GPS and just about at its limit. The CX730 was bought to overcome the rattles inherent in any servo driven gimble, the only drawback was that it does nothing to help the roll axis. The MK just failed miserably to keep the horizon level once the craft was...

Quick example filmed this last weekend. 20 mph winds, look at the trees ! ADX3H / MK / AV130 / Radian / Sony CX730 Recorded 50p 1080, uploaded as 25p 720. No post anything. A little jitter when descending. andy
