Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Thanks, Corey - that looks pretty cool. I find many LED's that are 12 volt applications, but worry that with 4 cell and 15+ volts, they would burn bright, but only for a little while.:nevreness:

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Has anyone attached LED lights to theirs yet, to help with orientation? I'd like to use my onboard 4 cell lipo to power them, if possible - I know, I may be asking for to much.......

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Some Pic's I thought it my be a little unstable in this configuration - but even to my limited experience, it seemed fine. Here's some pics of my "test bench" and removable GPS mount and the stable- so far :tennis::

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Success!!! Happy to report that I had a successful first flight today of my F550 Quad, thanks to this forum and specifically, this thread and especially Bart!:highly_amused: My build ended up consisting of: F550 frame (using only four arms) Naza Lite flight...

    Bad FC???

Thanks, Ed - will do. I have 2216-12 Tiger motors and had set Motor Idle Speed one notch below the "recommend" setting, after reading somewhere to do so when using bigger than stock motors. I guess their not as big as I would like to think.............

    Bad FC???

I’m pretty sure this was my bad………..:black_eyed: I was thinking that all of the motors would spin upon executing the Combination Stick Command, maybe not so? Because this time, after doing the CSC, I tried giving some throttle, and they all spun sweetly! Thank you all for the assistance. I’m...

    Bad FC???

"When you connect an esc/motor to channel 3 of your FC the motor runs. When you connect that same esc/motor combination to channel 4 of your FC the motor does NOT run. You have done this test with another esc/motor as well with exactly the same result.". (quote) Thanks Wolph, yes that is what...

    Bad FC???

This is a new NAZA Lite - I bought it earlier this year. It has never been used or flown. Not sure if I should open it up - may void any warranty???

    Bad FC???

Thanks for your replies, but I'm not sure......... By switching the leads between M3 and M4 on the FC, I've been able to get both #3 and #4 motors/ESC's working. But which ever motor/esc is plugged into M4 of the FC, that one does not work. Which seems to point the outputs of M4 on the FC not...

    Bad FC???

I was testing the motor direction on my new quad with the NAZA Lite. All motors were working/spinning, except my #4 motor. So I switched the M3 and M4 leads at the FC, and then #4 worked, but now #3 didn’t. Does this sound like I have a bad FC? Is there something else I can try before trying to...

    Where to Place NAZA LED?

Thanks, to all! Since I'll be using GPS and needing to verify satellite and other light/color codes of the LED, I guess I'll chose the ease of viewing the LED before take-off over the ease of seeing in flight, and mount it on the side of a rear arm. Thanks, again Dezy

    Where to Place NAZA LED?

I'm building an F550 and wondering where is the best place to mount the LED so that you can monitor its light color and current status. Is it best to mount it on the bottom facing down so you can see it in any orientation while in the air. Or is it better to mount it on the side of a rear arm...

Would an F550 Be Stable If Built As A Quad?

Thanks, Bart. I got the idea from a photo you posted in the : Group Build, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter! thread.Since I have both the F450 and F550 frames, it should be easy to switch back the arms to the F450, if the XY F550 doesn't work out. I can't believe I'm already accumulating spare parts...

Would an F550 Be Stable If Built As A Quad?

Thanks, Ed This first build will be for photography (and building some flying skills), so as long as it stays relatively still for a gopro-photo using GPS, I'll be happy. I'll probably try just hard-mounting the camera, instead of using a gimball, to try and keep the wind resistance low.

Would an F550 Be Stable If Built As A Quad?

Thanks, All. I do plan on not using anything larger than a 10” prop , and keeping the stock DJI arms, since I have limited hours in the air and will be needing cheap replacements.:highly_amused: My main concern was that with the motors being closer to each other on the left and right side of...

Would an F550 Be Stable If Built As A Quad?

As my first build to hang a gopro from, I was thinking that by not using the M1and M4 arms of the F550, this would help keep the arms out of the camera view. In other words, to build the F550 as a quad X.:highly_amused: Has anyone tried this? Is it stable? I’ll be using the NAZA Lite FC, and...

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Great - thanks again for the quick reply. I'll try that route, since I've obsessed/procrastinated for this long - what's another week to start his build!

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Hi Gomotomoto, looks good to me. I bought an I-charger also. It seems to have a lot of nice capabilities, but I'd be sure to check Bart's Lipo battery tutorial in this forum found here: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?12819-Understanding-Lithium-Polymer-batteries

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Super - thanks, Bart! On a separate note, I noticed your X configuration, with the wider spaced arms for AP. Would it be possible to get this using an F550 frame and not using two of the arms?

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

Binding Futaba 14sg and R7008sb Bart - Thanks for the latest video. The explanation of the radio travel adjustments using the popsicle sticks was great. But I'm kinda stuck at the beginning with supplying the correct voltage to the receiver, in order to bind it with the radio. I have a Futaba...
