Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Over the course of the last few years our military has well established the person flying a remotely controlled aircraft may not be the PIC. Generally the "Mission Commander" holds that responsibility. The same holds true in many civilian enterprise applications. Our FAA has been provided a lot...

I think Robert could answer that accurately. I thought it was a separate project but I'm not sure. Violetwolf, 3DR has always been manufacturing hardware in China, or buying from Chinese vendors. Only the product assemblies were being done on our side of the water. I have not heard of them...

    Question about EC-5 connectors

John, If you haven't worked with EC-5's before I have what might be helpful tips for you. EC-5's take a lot of heat before they get hot enough for the solder to melt. If you don't already have a 100W+ soldering iron, get one. You want the connectors to heat up fast in order to puddle to...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

And this is where commercial flight regulations start making some sense. Not berating the operations crew in any way but definately putting some heat on the commerce ($$) side of things. To generate the most revenue possible someone came up with the idea that flying over the contestant would...

Important Chroma Info Update; Flight Log Data I just came across a You Tube video that references the ST 10+ transmitter for Yuneec products with information that is applicable and very handy for owners of the Chroma. It directly affects the number of micro SD cards you should have. Although...

    Question about EC-5 connectors

Female to battery, both holes with a female pin receptacle. Don't mix! When you solder things up don't let solder run over onto the outside of the pin/receptacle. If you do have some thin, fine files on hand to clean out the snap grooves.

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

feng, On my builds I can set battery trays at any height I want by using different stand off lengths. That could easily be the case here if it's a custom build and some lower component was so tall the battery mount needed to be higher. The boom tubes appear round using the visibility tape as...

So many frames are clones of one another that a high res photo is necessary to break down the fine differentiating details.

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Law is literal. The word "over" is critical to defining intent. Agreed, more care and planning is required of MR in such conditions but risk can be mitigated. Example; I would not fly over the course of a motocross that did not have an active TFR or qualify under the size if crowd rules but...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

They could be used but a complete safety analysis and operating plan would need to be conducted and established first. Safety is something that has to be reviewed prior to an accident occurring. Accident prevention beats accident reporting by a vast margin, and this was likely preventable...

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Something for all to consider in light of this event, if you plan on flying in cold weather do not expect the flight times you have in warm weather. Lipos shed capacity quickly in cold temperatures. The rate and quantity of degradation is always an unknown so don't fly if you do not have live...

Clearance Sale at 3DRobotics, IRIS+ just $399, NEW!

One of the problems with Ardu/Pixhawk is what made it what it is. Open source. People doing custom programs for commercial stuff can't deal with having to comply with the licensing agreement. It's like setting up your competitor at no cost to him. Some are moving to PX4 for this reason and...
