    The DJI rant thread

So finally DJI have managed to score a Plus Mark. It certainly took time but they have replaced the wierdo retracts that only worked reliably on the ground but not in the air. The replacements work normally and it remains to be seen whether or not they will continue to do so. Anyway, the point...

A big HURRAH for Secraft - a throughly honourable company

This is a big HURRAH for Secraft and their positively glowing attitude towards customer satisfaction. I ordered the Secraft retracts when they first appeared at the beginning of this year. In response to an email I sent simply asking for clarification of the reports I had seen about...

    S800 Retracts problem

Well, DJI did finally step up to the mark and they have replaced the retracts. So far the replacements are functioning correctly but that has only been two flights. I will try to wear them out next time.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Brave Move for DroidWorx - Offering RTF systems

Yeah, me too. Can't wait to take the floats off and fly underwater.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Brave Move for DroidWorx - Offering RTF systems

I am not in a position to recommend anything. I only know MikroKopter and the DJI Wookong M and there are other options out there. My experience has clearly demonstrated that the DJI system could be brilliant, but it has also illustrated that their product and software releases have become...

    Wookong IMU V2

Before the kit arrived I had hoped that an small extension would be provided to enable simple connection/disconnection if the IMU were to be placed on the tray. Wishful thinking. But Thanks for that Naza-H info. I did not know that very cable existed elsewhere. I will get one. EDIT: Not so easy...

    Wookong IMU V2

After eons of waiting I have now received the S800 anti-vibe damper kit. I can see it being of real benefit for the camera mount but I am in two minds as to whether to mount the IMU.v2 on the supplied tray. The previous height loss problem with the IMU.v1 appears to have been eradicated with...

    Wookong IMU V2

It is nothing to do with opinions. If you want to use the Bluetooth LED you must upgrade firmware to a minimum of 5.20. However, the IMU.v2 will function normally with FW 5.16 if you don't want or use the Bluetooth LED.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Brave Move for DroidWorx - Offering RTF systems

Ridiculous isn't it! And they can hardly trumpet 'Safety and Security' either because for that they need to target the Mile-High YouTuber Phantom A-Hole type, not the conscientious and already responsible semi-pro's looking to step up a level. Steering ... or rather, sharply veering ... back...

Lost my Quad in Erskine :-(

What an excellent idea. ALL Phantoms should be pre-programmed to get lost. Then all the idjits can get bored and move onto something else, the authorities will lose interest in over regulation through lack of idjit incidents and maybe DJI can get back to concentrating on supporting the real...

Aeronavics / Droidworx SkyJib-8 Heavy v2 with RED camera and AV200 gimbal

It never ceases to amaze me how RED owners seem to have not only plenty of cash but also some sort of kamikaze death wish for their expensive box.

1001copters.com New Kit available : LCD Screen diversity

What would make the monitor with built-in receiver more attractive is if it had a more common range of spot frequencies within the 5.gGHz band. The eight frequencies available do not match much else which means matching transmitters have to be purchased as well. I have six airframes, each with...

    Zenmuse Mods

Still waiting for definitive in flight results because I have been distracted by an intermittent retracts issue. However, first flight showed some vibration getting through to the GH3. Another day spent on re-checking balance but will now wait for the vibration absorber kit for the bi-pod...

    Zenmuse Mods

Well I have installed the Secraft GH3 conversion kit. To my mind it is typical Secraft. A beautifully engineered poor design. • A seemingly insignificant but annoying omission is the cable channel bottom rear to tidily and safely route the delicate HDMI cable. • The biggest sin is the base...

    S800 Retracts problem

Well done for bringing us that report in such miserable weather conditions! Well, true to my record for buying faulty gear, it seems like I have bought the 'lemon' retracts. They are still the same - they work on the ground but not in the air. It is a mystery. DJI have stopped responding to...

    S800 Retracts problem

What about the amount of travel during calibration? The legs on mind move no more than half an inch. Is this standard or are the legs supposed to travel to their end stops during the calibration procedure?

    S800 Retracts problem

Well that is something to bear in mind. It would mean replacing the separate BEC and remote switch to apply power in the air as I had before on the Secrafts to avoid any possibility of the retracts operating on the ground when the LiPo's are connected (which the Secrafts did now and then!)...
