First Micro Quad Flight - thank you for the advice!!!

Today I received my first quad a hubsan x4. I've ordered it after several threads mentioning here that you should learn to fly with a micro before even considering building a full fledged rig. I did and after crashing into a lamp, nicking my thumb twice by the props, damaging two props in...

    Yet another newbie build thread!

i would suggest you check out my calculator which i created for exactly that purpose (link in sig). I checked and IF your wheelbase is 585 (it does not say, it only says 'width') THEN the max your frame can handle is:16" (with a very slim margin, so im inclined to say 15" max).

Death by Research: Help me pull the trigger!!

unfortunately not. The moderators disabled that function. You're a bit in the same league as me beginner not knowing where to start. Note that posting your rig here helps and should get some responses. Another thing that might help is this tool I created http://bit.ly/1gmDQ3E which gets you...

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

this is beyond my knowledge and someone who actually has some experience should answer this. Stab in the dark though: if your craft is too light (or your thrust is too high hover < 50% thrust) your craft becomes unstable. Its a bit like cramming a porche engine into a dinky toy. However other...

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

Yup that's it. As I said: check with ecalc! Also someone mentioned that your female should be able to handle 12" props so you can go with those as well. According to my calc that leaves roughly 1 inch between the tips of the blades. (Which is a bit close). Also check if your motors can handle...

    Simple Frame/Prop/Motor calculator for beginners

added prop diam vs lipo S count to the tool. Its a really flimsy correlation and it should have been better to set the relation between KV and S but that turned out to be even worse. Anyway as is the entire tool intended: if gives you a rough estimate of where to start with choosing the parts...

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

indeed you did and RTTYder already explained: but to add a visual: its a bit like having a a truck and a trailer. The trailer is getting too heavy so the question is raised: what do I need to do with the truck? To which you suggest replacing it for a Porche but it has to have enough...

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

I don't think it will work that way, or better said maybe it will work but will have a significant impact on flight time (as in: that it will drop drastically) as it makes a very inefficient system. Motor KV are closely tied to the prop size (and vice versa) deviating from that will have drastic...

Flitetest rotor bones quad. First build.

I love the pizza dome! Great to see an actual hand made wooden contraption, thank you for sharing! What size props you have? judging from the motors I would guess 6-7" right? Also what kind of wood did you use?

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

you mean 'lower', right? I checked dji and Im guessing you are giving the motor dimensions not the kv e.g. you have dji 2212 which are the dimensions of the motor. Those 2212 are e.g. 920 KV which go well with 10-11" props. So IF you have those than you could try 11" props, according to my...

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

Are you sure? That sounds insanely high kv for a motor. Especially with 10" props.

How do I increase my lift on a Flamewheel 450

Arm extenders. Lower KV motors, larger diam props and higher s batteries. You can use my tool to calculate the basics http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?17763-Simple-Frame-Prop-Motor-calculator-for-beginners and when you've done that you can cram that into ecalc to see if you get the...
