A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Define "a lot of throttle" please. It does require more than 50% even if you have a perfect half throttle hover.

    DJI A2 Failure Videos

Bartman, I know what they said but I don't know that's what they did. I believe about 50% of what I see, 30% of what I hear, and far less of what I read. The source generally determines that level of veracity. Doesn't hurt to ask and verify.

Pixhawk the new flight controller from 3DR

It IS a true auto pilot and therefore does require a higher level of knowledge and understanding. I will agree the software is not easy to use for someone that's not an engineer. All I can suggest is to go slow and work your way through it.

    DJI A2 Failure Videos

Just curious, how close are you flying relative to an airport?

    Folding Hexacopter Frame

+1 for Vulcan. Alex will make to order but the price goes up. Once you have one you can, as mentioned, change things out and make a larger or smaller one. Someone that plans well can purchase a quad frame that has deck plates sized and drilled to fit hex and octo arm positions. Not the...

    Dealing With the Public

Those "neighborhood watch dogs" are often the political players in the area home owners associations that go looking for violations of the association CC&R's. Plus 1 on your opinion about having an observer/helper.

Help required seting up new A2

Using a Futaba 14SG and A2, my system would not show failsafe entry in the Assistant with the TX switched off. The A2 Assistant would only indicate signal lost. The failsafe transition indication did not appear until I programmed end points for them. Tahoe Ed is correct. History being what...

    Anyone using Droidplanner?

The autonomous mission was nice to see but what was the cause of the wild gyrations and altitude issues at the 10 second hold point and landing way points? Smooth those out and the autonomous flight control system would be spot on! I have an APM 2.6 in a 3DR quad and really like it btw. The...

    A2 2.2 Upgrade Guinea Pig

That export restriction may end up not getting lifted. IMO a mistake our domestic manufacturers made was in calling their products UAV's. That terminology landed the description smack in the middle of the International Trade and Arms Restrictions, or ITAR. Several government agencies...

XAircraft Strange crash diagnosis ...very odd

Regarding solder joints. In full scale aviation solder joints are forbidden for flight critical control functions. So are electrical zip ties since they are noted for cutting wire over time, especially when applied too tight. Everything electrical is connected using mechanical and crimp...

XAircraft Proper esc configuration using Xaircraft FC

Calibrating a fist full of ESC's one at a time is too much work and takes too long. Garb a handful of 18"-24" servo extensions and make up a gang cable for 4, 6, or 8 ESC outputs. Plan for tomorrow and just make it for 8. Plug all the ESC's in at the same time and plug the single end into the...

Negative Waypoint Altitude in DJI Ground station?

Part of most systems work off of pressure altitude with a zero point established when the system powers up sitting on the ground. GPS will function at a negative value. For general flight things would probably work well but the way point part does raise some pretty good concerns.

    T-Motor ESC Calibration problem

It's pretty much a given that before setting up ESC's using a Futaba radio one must first reverse the direction of travel for the throttle channel. If you have used a Castle ESC you probably learned that in the user instructions. Not saying Castle is the product line one should buy, but they...

A2 + Futaba 14SG Signal Loss Failsafe setup

My experience in flight mode and failsafe programming using a Futaba 14SG indicated that once the proper flight mode limits were established in the transmitter via end point adjustments, that failsafe end point limits had to also be programmed in at the transmitter. In the A2 Assistant the...

    DJI and possible EMI susceptibility

    Controllers, GPs, Autopilots

Considering battery power only lasts "X" minutes, flying an automated "mission" makes very little sense. Far too many look at the advanced flight controllers and auto pilots and start thinking they can now start flyin real "UAV" operations. I've seen this same attitude in true UAV operators...

About to take a Wood BAT to my WKMCompass Calibration issues on a "was working" WKM

Sleepy, You know me as Tired Old Man and we met at a Lodi Huckfest about 3 years back. I had a similar problem with a new A2 and ended up buying a Wookong M in oder to get my octo in the air. If they hadn't been going at a discount at an area dealer it would have gotten a Super X. I've been...

    Customer Service ++++

I've dealt with their customer service group twice. The first time when I called to obtain more info about their 3dR quad and another when I had some questions about the software. The first time the guy spent pretty close to an hour with me on the phone answering my questions. The second time...

A2 at sea on this research yacht

There's a product the military loves for it's ability to deter marine corrosion. It's called Super Corr A and comes in a 12oz. spray can. It's applied by lightly spraying over the top of exposed electronics. Obviously non conductive. The stuff works very well but it runs ~$70.00 for a 12oz...
