Bad feeling about this crash in French alps

Yea, I'm just waiting for the day they make you guys get a tailwheel endorsement, maybe with something like a Pitts S1A.:) At that point your training will be complete.

    FAA To streamline 333 sUAS/UAS COA's

For those performing shoots in local "bread and butter" type work 200' is quite a lot. Not requiring a COA is a massive streamlining of the process. That alone can remove weeks of planning and bureaucratic delay from any given shoot. Time IS money.

Bad feeling about this crash in French alps

Not really. I sort of work for one of those manufacturers and everyone has problems with something. Heck, Boeing had some pretty good scares with their back up batteries not that long ago and even Rolls Royce has had a few engine issues. Of larger import is flight crew training, especially...

Uh, hi Steve, welcome to the Forums. Now you know where I've been hiding.

    FAA To streamline 333 sUAS/UAS COA's

The existing regs don't have any provisions that would exempt having a PPL. Until 107 is codified that requirement has to remain in place to comply with existing laws covering commercial flight activities. Being sUAS really has nothing to do with it. If it flies for hire it has to have a...

    3DR Pixhawk and Taranis

I well understand the pain. I remember wishing I would die. I was hammered pretty much full body and fighting paralysis. The only sleep I could get was in a tub of hot water. There's a few things you have to remember. Pain will fade with time, drugs will dull the pain, and you have people...

    Multirotor Pilots Wanted

It may well be that everyone is only a few months away from not being required to have an exemption. In that event the talent pool would expand considerably. OTOH, those having an actual exemption might well be viewed as having a higher level of professionalism than those without.

With other high threat activity in Europe right now we should postpone our speculations. I too am sorry for the probable loss of your friends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Chalagi, You have no idea how much I empathize with you right now. As one that experienced Guillian Barre, generating permanent neuropathy I understand much too well what you are experiencing. Get well buddy, get well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1st copter build (Tarot 680) - criticism needed

Electricity conducts mostly on the outside surface of a wire, not usually down the center of a wire. Any wire that has many strands and presents more wire surface area is a better conductor than solid core wire for our purposes. That's what a solid EE told me anyway. How it handles heat and...

    Tarot T810 build log

Now that's bad. Shooting the picture just told me I need to reverse the green and red lights. Obviously wasn't paying attention to front and back when I put them on.... Supposed to be green-right, red-left, white-aft and blue-forward. Details, details:rolleyes:

    Tarot T810 build log

You are correct in your assumption that a power input lead and channel output can share the same port. The power buss in a receiver is common to all the output ports so power is power regardless of where it inputs with the exception of Sbus receivers. For those you cannot input power at the...

    Flight Times

Motor kV is kind of high for the best flight time. Props seem a bit large for the kV too. If the motors are "over propped" more energy is needed to turn them, reducing flight time. If flying hard and fast flight time will tank. Lots of GPS slaved flight also reduces flight time. Listen to...

3DR Iris+... My experience so far

I need to go and read how you did that. The two to three trick is something that would be super effective using one of the simple modes. Now enough of the lamentations about work and house showings. Go have some fun and fly. Keep Stabilize mode on the switch for take off and landings. If and...

    Sony QX1

McTadpole You might want to also look at the A6000. I'm learning one now and it shoots nice stuff. No 4k and macro needs some help though. There are some triggering devices and HDMI converters available that can be used on an MR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need some help pricing my 550 sale

Realistically it's worth what someone else will pay for it. You might list it in the classifieds for ~20% less than you paid for it all, less shipping, and see what offers come your way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

3DR Iris+... My experience so far

Gary, Being straight up I find the use of the word "misspoke" by politicians to be deplorable, especially when you know they were originally lying. As for me, It's been over a year since I walked away from DJI stuff and flat forgot the name of DJI's Atti mode and confused it with manual. So I...

3D Robotics (3DR) Iris Official Users' Thread

Use the first Iris, without a camera, to really get to know the Pixhawk. There's just too much it can do and us mortals have to figure out how to make use of it all. The cost of a basic Iris as the price of admission to the world of Pixhawk isn't very much considering the education it can provide.
