    X8 First flight PID suggestions

Ken, did you change any mixer settings for the top/bottom set of motors? I'm considering converting my stock Okto. Do you think it will be worth it? It's just too darn big!

    Xoar 12x5 wood props

I don't think so. Too fragile. A small flat rate box is too tight with 10" props. The next size up should do. Bart, I'm going to paypal you the full amount and $10 for shipping. If any is left over use it to buy gummi bears. I think I need an email address to paypal though.

Yup...79 Kph. You are correct! Please see the girl at the front counter for your prize. :) (The prize is unbalanced EPP props and some other stuff that Buzzed sent me.) :p

    Any insight

Did you have care free setup? The compass problem will really mess up PH and CH. It did look to me like the bird was trying to get home each time but it was probably having a hard time fighting the wind especially at 600 feet. I see CH being activated at 248s. Up until that point PH was active...

    Any insight

baker: download this to view the GPX file: http://www.mikrokopter.de/ucwiki/wemau#MK_GPX_Download The compass does act funny. Starting at 241s, it changes a great bit without any yaw stick and that was enough to break PH. Strap it down and spool up the motors to see if the compass changes...

Mikrokopter If This Was Your Problem

No but I dip the legs in paste flux and make a big mess that I have to clean up later with alcohol. I found a pic of the resistor I was referring to earlier.

Tau Labs Not a multicopter, a mono one

That's nice Gary. Is it fun to fly? Have you flown it like an airplane yet?

    What countries are represented here?

I'm still not sure what the purpose is. A member map here would be nice though.

    Tau Labs Camera Stabilization

Here is James' initial post that may explain the jerkiness. I think he was working on the firmware rather than dialing in a cheap mount. ;) http://forums.openpilot.org/topic/5426-camera-stabilization/page__view__findpost__p__17271

Any salesman here? Why do I want to own these? How do they compare to CF? Are they termite treated? ;)

Tau Labs ppssst....there are a few more left.

There have been openpilot development boards that have flown MK BL-Ctrls. I do not think it's a consumer feature at this point. Either way, the CC board will not compete with a complete MK setup. The CC is made to be more of a sport flyer board. It's almost like comparing a Cadillac to an open...

    Tau Labs ESC Power distribution

Yes but when you put a magnetic compass on the bird the game changes and doing the twist is even more important. ;) I do the twist on everything. It goes like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbK0C9AYMd8 :)

Mikrokopter If This Was Your Problem

You can try reflowing the solder on the 4 or 5 chips in the temp circuit. The cap needs to be soldered properly. It takes a lot of heat and the solder MUST flow through the hole and leave a fillet on both sides. Use flux. The negative side is especially important because if there is a...

Mikrokopter If This Was Your Problem

Stuttering is bad and could be costly. One of the three motor windings is not being energized or switched. It could be the motor or a bad BL or both. One can kill the other. Desolder the motor wires and check the resistance between each of the 3 motor wires with a meter. I have seen decent...

Try those new antennas on the 100mW units first. You will be surprised at the difference.

Mikrokopter If This Was Your Problem

Ah, They are similar to the 1.2 boards. Those are pads for a standard 2x5 connector. The other 5 pins are on the bottom of the board of course. To reload firmware with MKTool you only need to use 2 of those 10 pins. Transmit(TX) and receive (RX). The problem is that one of them is on the bottom...

I don't have the newer boards. Did they make the RX/TX lines easier to access?

Mikrokopter If This Was Your Problem

The temp is communicated over the same two lines that adjust motor speed. Who knows what the BL-Ctrl or FC code will do if the temp gets faulty values or no value. I do know that the FC is capable of lowering power at higher temps. The temp circuit on the BL-Ctrl is pretty simple. I would...
