    DJI Matrice

Interesting times indeed. Looking forward to see where DJI is in say 10 years and who the next new kid on the block will be.

    DJI Matrice

Yes, go pro is suffering that exact fate right now. Except the cheap and almost as good Chinese knock off is what everybody buys now instead of a go pro. I would love to see a serious challenger to DJI. I think DJI wouldnt even mind the competition. Freely is somewhat specific to the movie...

    DJI Matrice

Fair enough, especially about the quad vs hexa or octo. I think they are specifically targeting the industrial user with this one. I work for a pretty large industrial company and they wouldn't blink at the cost of a matrice 200. And as far as a service company that supports large industrial...

    X4R Antenna Placement

I'm sure it will be fine like that. The test is to see how it preforms, if you don't get any dropouts then it will be fine. A word on antennas, Both antennas should be placed the same way for optimum performance. That means if your transmitting antenna is vertical then you receiving antenna...

    Storm SRD280 V4 quad with Spektrum Dx6

FPV is usually separate. Camera, transmitter on the drone and receiver and screen on the ground. Except for power it is a separate system altogether.

    Storm SRD280 V4 quad with Spektrum Dx6

6ch would be minimum 8 is better. you need a minimum of 4 ch for a multirotor but when you add failsafe, gps/atti modes and then start adding on other stuff you need more than 6. As far as hooking up a different receiver it can likely be done, depending on the FC.

Which drone to buy for automotive videos

The DJI Inspire 2 checks a couple of those boxes. Not sure you will get 30 minutes of air time but 20 to 25 is reasonable. It flies faster than 45 and has several follow modes but I'm not sure if they are enabled in sport mode which allows you that high speed. DJI also makes a Matrice 200 series...

Flying in Patagonia with my Inspire 1 RAW

The wife and I were at a county fair and we were looking at the photo exhibits and there were all these different categories of photos. Black and white, nature, action, computer manipulated etc. I was saying they should have drone category.

    New flyer

If you plan on using it for multiple planes and drones it may be a good choice. I found it a bit overwhelming too at first but there are tons of you tube videos and user groups out there showing how to set it up. I liked it better than the spectrum DX8. If your new its fine to go with the RTF...

    Need NAZA Expert

And just to clarify. Why won't the 4 ch receiver work with the Naza? IIRC you should be able to do it with the bare minimum of 4 ch. I realize you wouldn't have that extra U channel for fail safe or GPS but shouldn't you be able to hook it up that way while you are troubleshooting. It seems to...

    Need NAZA Expert

Not a mini quad expert but have you tried it with the props off? have you tried 2 blade props? Have you switched back to the 8ch receiver and tried it? If it works with the 8ch receiver on sbus you could at least eliminate that. I'm just throwing stuff out there. Your probably right on it being...

    Help with Drone Builds Please

Where to start. First off most people new to multirotors learn to crawl before they walk. 80 to 90mph is not a realistic goal for a first build in fact I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done at all except in maybe a few rare cases by advanced builders. I'm not that familiar with Ecalc but in the...

Survey / Mapping / Inspection / Post Processing Hourly Rate

Is there an alternative way for them to get this work accomplished and what would that cost? I would say no its not unreasonable. If anything you may be a little low. This field is so new that's it can be hard to price. If that's what you can do it for and still make a profit then go for it. I...

    Future of drones?

Ubiquitous? Sure why not. They will become common place to the point where no one will even give them a second look. But Its up to the pioneers in the field to keep developing ways to use them so that they will become an everyday sight. On the other hand its too soon to tell. Most people I...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Thanks, I was wondering if I had to convert long-GOP 4:2:0 to a frame based 4:2:2. Lol. Just kidding I have no idea what that means but I still get what you said. I'm going to look into Da Vinci resolve. Thanks!

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Nice! I'm going to assume that water landing in Maui was intentional? To color correct don't you need to shoot in raw? Or can you still color correct with mpeg compression but just on a more limited basis?

    Camera Systems

I wouldn't say crazy expensive but yes if you just want some basic 1080 video without all the extras its a little over the top. Plus the whole point of a camera like that is to shoot in raw and color correct in post production which is beyond what most people want or need to do. I noticed that...
