Another Stupid Response from the FAA

This situation reminds me so much of the following book I read many years ago..... http://www.amazon.ca/The-Sovereign-Individual-Transition-Information/dp/0684832720 Author is Lord William Rees Mogg - is incredibly insightful and accomplished. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Rees-Mogg...

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

That brings up an interesting point. In general the highest reliability products tend to be those installed in road vehicles and aircraft. Reliability is heavily regulated by SAE. Hence the reason why a top quality vehicle navigation/entertainment system will remain reliable at extreme...

Assuming your camera/BGC system is suspended such that the landing gear is independent you just have to hold your camera straight inline with MR heading when you power it up. That works for heading mode...... more complex with using follow mode which was never really developed for Multirotor...

What are the inclination angles on your motors? See image here.... Inclination can help the FC yaw control become more effective at maintaining a fixed MR forward flight heading.

    Straight line problem

A previous MR 800mm Hex would start to yaw or **** in to a crosswind from time to time when I was trying to fly it for AV work from tee box to green. It has to do with Yaw axis tuning to some degree but sometimes the motors also needed to be canted to help accentuate yaw control. Otherwise the...

Did you go thru the rigorous 6 point accel and gyro calibration for both IMUs, i.e., mounting each IMU on a cube and calibrating on each of the six planes?

    Straight line problem

Yes, I recall a similar situation with one of my RCT800 MRs using the WKM at 5.20 fw. I measured the temperatures on all the motors and ESCs and found three of the motors were running hotter. Assuming your airframe c of g is still dead center on the horizontal plane, check your motor and esc...

    Straight line problem

If you check the documentation in the GPS/Digital compass section you will see instructions on how to correct for that. Its a true north versus magnetic north related issue. Determine the magnetic angle of declination for your flying area then adjust the GPS module accordingly. BTW - There...

GoPro Hero4 Black Edition Unboxing, Setup and Testing

Preceding the release of the GoPro4, there was talk of them putting a magnetic battery back cover on the camera which is counter-productive to MR's equipped with GPS/digital compass. 1) How does the GoPro4 lens focus? i.e., at infinity or closer as per the previous issues related to the GoPro3+...

FPV Options...... Will the Hero GoPro4 Black work as an FPV camera when the conventional RCShutter Audio/Video cable is used to connect to a typical FPV Tx for video downlink? ref: http://www.rcshutter.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=83

My 3 axis BGC is mounted on a Cinestar 8 such that the camera as well as the tripod landing legs rotate on the yaw axis. In my case I suspend my MR in a sling and hold the MR airframe at 90 degrees to allow the Yaw axis to freely rotate. If it tends to rotate to one position, I reduce the weight...

The Basecam forum site provides some user input. And somewhere it does indicate a need to sometimes switch the pins around or flip over the 3 wire motor connection cable. I shortened my and rebuilt the 3 pin cable connection. I also went thru the extensive IMU calibrations for each IMU on each...

Asymmetric Hex - conversion from an X8

Would not higher torque motors overcome the prop inertia more quickly so as to allow the FC output control to remain effective? Or would rotational momentum of the longer/ heavier motor arms then become then become the root cause of the problems?

Ronan, Yaw axis is always the biggest challenge. It works for the handheld gimbal systems but is more limited on a Multirotor. You have to re-calibrate the gyros much more frequently for the Yaw axis IMU as they drift a lot. If you have a heavy camera, the Yaw motor torque becomes a critical...

AlexMos and other brushless gimbal controllers....what is the truth?

yeehaa... True.... the Alexmos and others are still a bit behind but the gap is closing. The latest firmware for the 32 bit 3 axis has auto-tune which works to free up time for the other issues. Still there are needs to resolve BGC resonance by means of the new firmware notch filters and/or...

Good to see photo...... I doubt very much that you will be able to purchase a 15 pole motor..... so BGC software auto-configuration is wrong again. Most likely all 3 motors are 14 pole..... but doublecheck all motor specs.
