No, you don't need an external logger. Wookong does the geotagging just fine. The problem is converting the IOSD logs into usable data.

Check your velocity against how frequently the IR triggers, you need to have atleast 2 seconds between the shots otherwise the NEX7 won't trigger. Solution is to either lower the horizontal speed or fly higher in order to space the shots more. (or change the overlap of the images.)

Leo, lets not get confused. I am not using an external geotagger like I saw in your post history. I am only using WKM+my camera and No extra hardware except the RC shutter. Ofcourse I know how to make the flight plans but using WKM to geotag your pictures is a pain and it isn't accurate at all.

I have emailed DJI explaining to them the problems I have encountered in this post and kindly asked them to provide a solution for it. Shot in the dark, but I guess its better than to simply complain.

This is upto the autopilot itself, which is terrible as I mentioned above. If you manage to grab a dataset I can synchro the photos with my app as long as you have the same amount of pictures as GPS positions on your log file.

If anyone is interested I took the problem into my own hands and made an application that will geotag your photos from Wookong and make a usable dataset. I think I am going to sell the application as it saves anyone ALOT of time willing to do Aerial Mapping with their wookong.
