Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Lol. Yes...earth magnet. The desire for regulation stems from wanting commercial endeavors with the blessing of the government. These incidents make it harder to for those in government that want to approve UAS and easier for those in government to prove that it isn't ready.

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

I just watched the interview: civil suit criminal charges The FAA cometh and taketh the hobby away.

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Voltage drop: One problem may be overloading the flight batteries with all of the extras. I found this Voltage Drop video which really makes it simple to understand. I think it's healthy...for everyone to keep their flight batteries separate from all of the other components...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Multirotor failures: broken props (due to design, construction, or overloading of craft.), Electronic speed controller (loose bullet connectors, incorrect settings, or over loading), brushless motors (bad bearings...), cheap frames (cannot sustain loading on craft, excessive weight)...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

It never ends... You develop confidence in these ships when they fly like they should. Each successful flight lowers your fear factor and then that day comes when your ship drops from the sky: http://youtu.be/DaCp1USGAGM There are many reasons....and the result is the same: Newton's law.

    80% Rule or 3.7v?

Don't risk it. As Maverick said: the flight times will decrease as your batteries get older. I went from successful 6-7 minute flights to an earth shattering 3 minute 30 second flight followed by a demonstration of Newton's law: http://youtu.be/DaCp1USGAGM Be content with your flight times...

    F550/Naza/GPS in flight hickup

I had the same issue once. It was from a loose bullet connector on the ESC. Plugging and unplugging the wires reduces the friction that keeps it in place. My craft would dip and then recover. Some have soldered their bullet connectors on. I just used engine electrical tape to ensure that...

    Told to move along...

Check the rules governing use of the Council park. They may prohibit RC aircraft. Some parks prohibit RC cars etc., music, or anything that makes noise or endangers wild life or people. It can be hard distinguishing between people that are power trippin' off of their dislike for an...

Dji WKM kep rotating and crashed

Do you have other equipment running off of your flight batteries? My Y6 had a power hungry video transmitter and FPV camera. My craft weighed just over seven pounds. I was using old lipos. It's the only possible explanation for the sudden drop in power which caused my craft to spin (the...

DJI Released New Firmware 5.24 for WKM

wow.. The third bulletin may be a start for flight controllers everywhere. If you look at aeronautical maps or search the web, you'll find no fly zones. I imagine that the very near future will bring software restrictions on flight controllers that will keep these craft from entering declared...

THIS IS REAL: Colorado town to consider drone hunting license, bounty

This has to be a joke. What happens when someone shooting a drone accidentally shoots one of his fellow hunters. We saw what happened when **** Cheney went quail hunting. :) I'm sure that the FAA would not condone the shooting down of any aircraft. This is ridiculous.

    Graupner yaw problems

I don't think you should use your transmitter trim. Try adjusting your gains to see if that will stop or reduce the yaw. I had APC props and Graupners and my craft yawed on both. Adjusting the gains stopped the issue for my craft.

Help!! My hexacopter crashed and I have no idea why!

What batteries are you using and what rating? You may have experienced a brown out. Not a complete loss of power, but a drop in power due to demands or running your battery to the hilt. The power loss was enough for your batteries to catch their breath and supply enough power to keep your...

Another Phantom Fly Away - IMPORTANT

Futaba makes good radio equipment. I like the diversity receiver concept. There's a DIY video on YouTube where the Phantom receiver was replaced. http://youtu.be/jRUDKZGhwuU http://youtu.be/o9NbjYtSeBE Radio control has never been an issue with me. I've flown my craft just beyond line of...

F450 crash - what do you think happened?

Prop, ESC failure are the usual suspects. The bullet connectors on the ESCs become loose after plugging and unplugging them while setting up your craft or after crashes. You may laugh, but bird strikes could also bring these craft down. I've seen and had several birds make attack runs on my...

End in sight for current MR designs!

There's no end in sight. I would like to see one made like an Osprey V-22 that's capable of carrying a Gopro or Sony Nex camera.

How to get extra room for FPV equipment on a F450

That's a nice build. I didn't want my battery hanging out in space so I slid it between the arms of the F450 and kept all electronics on the top plate. The wiring was a mess, but kept contained under a Tupperware like lid. I was my test quad so I wasn't concerned too much about aesthetics...

Another Phantom Fly Away - IMPORTANT

i keep hearing about fly aways. How far were you from home point when you lost control? i dont know how receivers behave at the edge of the transmitter's output. Turning off the transmitter should have brought your craft home if you allowed it to records its position prior to flight. I...

    Aural Aesthetics of Propellor Noise

Eloquent title for a thread. My APC props are pretty noisy. My Graupners are much quieter in comparison, especially at altitude. I think having good motors helps to reduce that high pitch whine that some craft produce.
