Not necessarily....ABS or Delrin can be machined as much as Alu....just a bit more complex in terms of speed, cutting tools and heat avoidance. These guys do their clamps in ABS:

This might be helpful...
I would stick to plastic clamps...they are lighter in weight, and if you have a crash (hopefully never) its better your clamps get ripped apart than the whole frame.....some sort of predetermined breaking point. In terms of holding the booms to the frame there is almost no difference between...
Would be interesting to see how you go along with your project....if you need any more info, just let me know. One of my Cinestar 8 is still in the box, so it's not difficult to take additional measurements if you need them.
Good luck
Chris
Sorry, was only reading your post just now....
Cinestar 8:
Tube outside diameter: 25 mm
Tube wall thickness: 1 mm
Tube total lenght: 450 mm
Tube is inserted into the main frame : 66 mm
Main frame thickness: 2.5 mm
Main frame diameter: 230 mm
Whole diameter from one tube end across the...
So, here are the comparison pic's:
The case from the white converter can easily be removed just with a small screwdriver, and the 3x AV plugs could just be unsoldered.....cover it with shrink wrap and you get a light-weight converter.
Chris
ooooops....was certainly not me. But size wise (lenght and with) they are pretty similar. Once I am home I can make a comparison pic.....got a few of both sitting at home.
Edit: There was a lenghty tread about the "cheap" converter...
In your situation, I couldn't have phrased it better......
Trouble is, they most propably wouldn't understand 90% of your mail....apart from that, it looks like the reight hand there doesn't know what the left hand is doing....
Chris
With these Chinese gadgets you never know what is inside and it is quiet possible that you could modify the "cheaper" one to convert it to the "more expensive" one....like the additional 5V cables. From the "cheap" converters I ordered 3x at Amazon, one of them was faulty, and after realizing...
I guess DJI is the most hated company in the MR universe at the moment.....the question is: WHY ???
Every school-boy from the deepest swamps would know that the way DJI is doing business is a role model for failure. The other day is was talking to a friend who is doing a lot of business with...
Hi Augusto
In the video at 2:35 you can see how to get the needed 5V from any free port of your receiver if you don't want to draw power via the HDMI cable from you Cam battery. That way the power for the converter is then coming from your flight Lipo, but that you could also do with the...
I have a few....work perfectly. To save some weight and make it less bulky, just remove the case....otherwise it's a no-brainer....plug and play. The only mistake I made was when ordering.....I didn't read properly and ordered this one first...
Hey....might be a cool project, but can't see anything else than the Gryphon Power Distro Board.......which is damn good....got two of them myself.....any more info on your project ???

A couple of years ago I had a Futaba T14MZ which had 35 Mhz......later I bought a 2.4 Ghz module and it worked perfectly.....The Futaba 8J Kloner mentioned is the best bang for the buck, but if you want to hang on to your "vintage" Tx, I wouldn't see any problem if you add a 2.4 Ghz module...
It's most likely that the GoPro is the source of your troubles.....the GoPro's are known for their strong electromagnetic interference. Try to fly your F550 with GoPro switched off......
Apart from that, flying with a 35 Mhz transmitter is not really a safe thing....these old systems with a...
So hard to find technically talented people with style these days....stuff is either functional, but looks like sh*t......or its nice to look at, but plainly useless.
You guys are the Gucci in the copter family....
PS: Great boxes, especially the Carbon look, but nothing beats my...
1.) Way too expensive.....at the moment you get a lot better deals all over Europe and US....

Great stuff, looks really promising.....thanks for posting
....but I always have DennyR's voice in the back of my head: "....get a single rotor heli....get a single rotor heli........get a single rotor heli...." :)
