    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

What exactly are you looking for? I have an H8 design that is pretty darn good. I've not bothered to market it because it doesn't have a lot of the features the market likes. I didn't add those features because they usually reduce performance. This particular one is only designed to fly a...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

If you were flying at 45% with no load, there should not have been a problem I would think, unless the ESC's were really cheap. I have a beater quad made with leftover Hobby King parts that flies at 30% load with no problem at all.

He could actually have a point with the ESC load thing. The mechanism is not entirely clear to me... ripple current or freewheeling current... something like that but heli guys have known for a long time to not run motors with high load and low throttle %. In your case, the load might seem to...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

I don't even like that method Jes. A really easy and cheap way I make bulkheads where strength and stiffness aren't the most important: Take a piece of 1/8" plastic strip. Drill 2.5mm holes in it edgewise. Ram in some M3 screws. Done. High strength bulkheads, nothing beats aluminum...

Ah, I see it now... there isn't even a screw in the top! Oh man.

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

What a ridiculous construction technique. I'm surprised it holds together at all. And, well, I guess it doesn't. It's entirely possible for that little plate to flex in the middle, letting the screw come out of the slot, and then getting into the ESC as you've shown. Was this damage on the...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

Well, has Quinton disassembled the system himself before as CarbonCore stated? If so, there must be some consideration that maybe he caused it? Doesn't take away from the fact that tab-in-slot is a silly design. Does that screw simply "thread" or rather "bite" into the slot in the carbon...

A2 losing height in forward flight

There are a lot of issues that can cause this. Not enough power, vibration, etc. But some amount of altitude loss is unavoidable, even on a perfect setup. It just the basic Venturi Principle. Airflow past the barometer causes a drop in pressure, which causes a flight controller to think it...

First major incident: Need help with diagnosis

Interesting idea, but I'm skeptical. I'd love to see a test of the theory. It would be important if this was true. I think it's simply a case that the SimonK firmware passes through the throttle setting immediately, with absolutely no filtration or delay. And so when you open up the throttle...

First major incident: Need help with diagnosis

This problem is not restricted to DJI controllers, nor any specific brand of ESC. We are seeing it too with Arducopter. It's a simple fact that the latest flight controller algorithms, are pushing the ESC's very hard. This, combined with large props and low KV motors, is exposing this problem...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

This is the problem with all these typical Meccano-like multirotors, gimbals, etc. If you build something that anybody could build in their basement, then people will copy your design.

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

It's trivial to code this. And I have no formal programming education.

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

Good Lord... DJI still haven't done this yet? We did this like 2 years ago! I agree with your statements exactly Jes. This is a simple case of the system designer not considering the real-world usage, and not implementing a very simple fix.

APM v2.5.2 "Bad Gyro Health" message

FYI, there has been a recent development in the research to this problem: http://www.diydrones.com/forum/topics/ac3-1-rc5-spi-speed-problem?id=705844%3ATopic%3A1457156&page=61#comments For the first time, Philip has worked out how to cause the regulator to fail on purpose, and the method is...

APM v2.5.2 "Bad Gyro Health" message

That's a clone right? The clones seem to have a much greater rate of this happening. Nobody knows why.

    Thanks Spektrum!

That's the nice thing about Arducopter. You can go back, look at the logs, and see exactly what happened. So I'm just curious to see what sort of signals we can see.

    Thanks Spektrum!

Sorry to see that. Can I see those logs? I'd like to see what happened. I don't know why anybody uses Spektrum anymore. :cold:
