To be clear, what I'm saying is that there is no need for a special chip to enable V2V communications. Any existing telemetry radio modem could be used. That chip is simply a specialized WiFi transceiver fit for automotive applications, which would be better than using generic WiFi chips for...
I'm curious why you say that this would be difficult for either a Pixhawk or APM2.6 to do? In particular, you say you could not tweak the source code like an Arduino. You most certainly can.
I'm actually working on a project along the same lines as you're looking to do. However, it will...
Does it sort of seem like the US is kind of going the way of Canada? No rigid technical requirements to gain some sort of airworthiness (either machine or pilot), but instead every single job is a case of apply for exemption, and wait for permission, hoping the permission comes in time to meet...
Yep. I hate the word drone too, and fought against it. But, it's done, we lost. Even when I used the very clear and descriptive term "Aerial Robots" people still did not know what it meant. They'd think like "So, you have like Johnny5, riding on a drone?"
You're probably referring to a 3M brand VHB tape. I use it for everything. It will often break things trying to remove it. I actually use it in some structural applications.
One easy source is a professional Auto-Body supply place. They sell it as trim tape. Just be sure to get genuine 3M...
Well, yes, I ended up using it a little bit and got pretty good results. It was very very stable. Not saying it's more stable than anything else, but certainly not less stable, which some people thought it would be. The only real disadvantage was it does make quite a bit of noise and...
I thought many of the others still used 8 channel input? But I don't know.
Ultimately, we should just ditch PPM completely. It is SO anachronistic. It is a time-analog signal, it is NOT digital as some people think. The Tx should just generate a digital signal using some as-of-yet...
Eventually, we will get to the point where we'll have cameras just taking 360 degree video, and then you just frame and stabilize, with no need for a gimbal. But we're several years off from that, at least for the quality of video you guys want.
I don't see the point of this thing at all. I...
There's nothing magic about PPM. The radio looks at all your controls, and generates PWM lengths for each channel. Then it combines them into a single PPMSum stream, and transmit it. The Rx receives the PPMSum stream, and breaks it up into channels, and sends it out to each servo channel...
Arducopter has about 10 possible flight modes. Acro, Stabilize, Alt Hold, Loiter, Circle, Auto, RTL, Land, Position Hold, Drift... I like to have usually have 4-5 of them available. Normally Stabilize, A-H, Loiter, Auto and RTL.
And in case you aren't familiar, here is an example of my work. The first ever installation of Pixhawk/Arducopter on a gas powered helicopter, creating an affordable long duration/heavy lift UAV:
I already do that in my Futaba, and is sucks. It's already cost me one helicopter, lost in a lake when I flipped into the wrong mode. I would like to have push-buttons. So much so, that I ended up building a custom Tx from scratch to implement it. But it's build into a Pelican case and is...
I've kind of been looking at a high end radio. I'm a pinch flier and really like a nice tray. The Jeti and some of the high end Graupner radios look really good. Only problem is they are all missing one of the most important features for me. A rational implementation of flight mode control...
I could build something for you on contract. I'd propose something like a Tarot T18 folding frame, KDE XF5215 - 330 motors. KDE 35A ESC's. 18" props, 6S power. Pixhawk flight controller, all configured and ready to go. The only issue is we'd need to look at the budget, as I'm not sure how...
