    DJI Folding Props: Any Hope?

So how does RCTiger-Motors get the balance under control? As per the advert here: http://www.rctigermotor.com/html/2014/releases_0227/23.html

    Batteries

Two items come to mind in this discussion: 1) http://www.aerialtronics.com/ but there are others such as DraganFlyer etc. 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfggwmhcvC0 Sikorsky X2 It seems that a X Coax offers a lot of benefits over a flat 8 from several perspectives except for: a) some loss...

    Batteries

R_Lefebvre, Thanks for posting that. It helps to explain why my Cinestar 8 does not fly as efficiently as I was expecting relative to my previous Hexacopters. What caught me off guard though was that an X Coaxial will not have more disc area than a regular Quad.

    DJI Folding Props: Any Hope?

And I thought one of the benefits of folding props was some isolation from prop balance/vibration issues..... I am still relatively new at this but here are some questions and guesses.. Radial or Axial vibration? If radial vibration has been ruled out there may still be axial vibration which...

DJI S1000 horrible jello - help needed

Caution: Motor and/or prop vibration can cause erratic MR behaviour leading to a crash........ depending upon magnitude and frequency of vibration and your FC-IMU system to tolerate vibrations.

    LIPO voltages

As you are probably aware, the loaded voltage is always lower than the unloaded voltage. Also after letting the landed rig sitting for awhile with power off - the battery voltage tends to recover to a slightly higher level.... which will give you misleading information if used incorrectly.

    Batteries

As electrochemistry performance changes according to load changes, the load needs to remain constant. I think constant current load is the best bet via a bank of conventional lights (current is self regulating) and ambient room temperature is less affected.... no thermal runaway. Typical lab...

    Batteries

Watts = Power = current squared x resistance = Voltage x Current E = I * R i.e., Volts = current x resistance. Units are typically amps X ohms Energy density should be considering only the output power when compared to total battery weight and should not take in to account the battery size.

    Batteries

With such high prices per pack for the larger capacities I would like to see someone develop a LiPo battery pack that could be quickly pulled apart and rebuilt cell by cell so that bad cells could be easily replaced!!!! But I suspect the energy density would drop due to the extra wiring etc...

    Batteries

Its very difficult and somewhat dangerous to replace one or more cells in a battery pack..... although I did witness a technician do it behind the counter in a local hobby shop and without any assisted fan ventilation or fire extinguisher! even then there might then be a reliability issue etc.

Looking for original WooKong M diode output test

About 2 years ago there were postings on the internet including a youtube video explaining how to do a multimeter diode test of the original WooKong M servo outputs. This was done to check for a flaw in their earliest hardware design.... and there was a recall for replacement if the WKM failed...

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

thx sk8brd... I just read the same re: Attitude..... However I have limited WKM input channels such that X2 or X3 was dedicated to RC remote gains making the option to activate course lock unavailable and no bluetooth module to allow me to shift the RC remote gains over to the IPad...... In...

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

Crashes suck...... especially when you have just been paid just under $1000 to do the build for a friend and it crashes just a couple of days before you intended to hand it over as the final deliverable!!!!

WKM FW 5.26 GPS with bluetooth

Crashed today during about ht 5ht test flight with FW 5.26....... can't rule out other possibilities 100% but it took off in the direction of motor M1 while in Attitude mode on my Hex just after I did a "successful compass recalibration. Will test the motor/esc/prop again with a servo tester...

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

On the previous test flight there was no toilet bowl effect but it flew left of the intended heading. So looked up my previous Hex build configuration that flew perfectly on fw 5.20 to determine the best GPS arrow direction, i.e., 14 east then then recalibrated the compass getting the confirming...

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

Thanks Tom and sk8board...... So now I will see if I can roll the firmware back to 5.16 or 5.20......if I can figure out how..... will test the esc/motor c/w prop load on the bench with my handy servo tester to see if I can get a glitch of some kind although I think that is highly unlikely.

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

I wait until I get complete GPS satellite lock.... but then I always take-off and land in Attitude mode........ So if WKM can only keep it level with one motor failed in GPS mode.... then I missed my chance to regain control to land safely. In such a case it could still be the M1 motor or...
