    My brushless gimbal result

Here's one of my first flights with self designed & made brushless gimbal carrying Panasonic GH2: I still suffer from pan swaying quite bad (not too visible in the test vid above). But that's all because of Naza making the hex sway (the gimbal has no pan stabilization). The "hunting" is not as...

    My brushless gimbal result

Yes, absolutely! Just rotate the whole gimbal to make camera/sensor facing different ways. My gimbal does only +/- ~30 degrees on roll so I have to tilt the entire gimbal about 60 degrees (+ max out the roll) during calibration to make the sensor point side up (in other words 90 degrees from...

Panasonic GH2 general and hack info base

You have a point there Macsgrafs, but that's not always the case. Even if my GH2 had fantastic HDMI live out and was able to record in 720p50 while outputting HDMI at the same time I would STILL buy GH3 for 1080p60... :) And you can actually buy light bulbs that last "for a lifetime" already...

Run the auto setup procedure with the pan servo connected and gimbal free to move in pan direction. This will tune your servo direction, center and gains and make things work. :)

My pan stabilization is working like a charm. You have ran the auto setup with pan enabled & servo connected & gimbal free to pan, right?

Thanks for your kind words! The gimbal is a DIY product, designed and manufactured by yours truly. And so is the hex carrying the gimbal, too. Here's a few pics of the gimbal if you're interested: http://fotoni.org/ilmasta/rinkularigi_2_4/

I had the pleasure of having my wife film a short "demo" flight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAP6q7Yzhb0 As you can see, the pan stabilization is not active throughout the flight but only for a few seconds right before I land. I have only one radio and had my hands full just controlling the...

About soft mounting the gimbal to the frame... I had pretty rigid mounting via 3mm thick triangular CF plate and some thin rubber gaskets between washers on three mounting bolts some 150mm apart. I suffered from violent oscillation of the whole hexacopter if I raised the gains to 50 or above...

Definitely needed! Disabling the pan control all together makes little sense. Having manual control over pan has no ill effects, having automatic stabilization on pan has (on some occasions). Disabling the pan (manual + automatic) sounds an overkill solution to problem introduced by pan...

I would rather turn the Skyline a few degrees so that when the Skyline sits horizontal the camera tray is tilted little down. This way you can do autotune with 0 and 90 degrees (measured from the Skyline, not the camera tray) and still have the camera tray tilting a tad downwards in "0" position.

The limits you set in the software are limits for how far the gimbal will tilt or roll relative to ground and for input signal. What this means is if you set for example tilt limits to 0 and 90, you can control the tilt with your radio from 0 to 90 degrees in relative to ground. What the set...

Yep, you have to do the servo modifications. If you want to make it nice and tidy (and you're sure you never want to use external pots on your servos) you can just solder the two resistors inside the servo. Remove the pot by cutting the legs half way like they say in the instructions. But...

Did the electrical modifications yesterday evening and updated the firmware. No surprises there, all went as planned. When I did auto-tune my roll axis just jumped to full left until it binded and stayed there. Tilt axis was doing the normal auto-tune process but roll servo keeped on buzzing...

Route your pan servo power wire to one of the landing skids and mount small push button there. Align it so that whenever your aircraft sits on ground the button is depressed and cuts the power to the pan servo. And as soon as you lift off the button jumps out and connects the circuit enabling...

Waiting the new firmware very eagerly! Here's my quick observations about Skyline. I build my own gimbals and have now tried Skyline in two different gimbals with two different servos. Gimbal A is "Cinestar-like" gimbal with roll axis coming behind the camera. Servos are Spektrum H6040 which...
