I am looking to purchase the F550 with a camera gimbal but not sure if I want to buy a gimbal made only for the GoPro3. Can anybody recommend what camera is good for AP? I have the GoPro3 but I see a lot of people are using the Sony NEX5N?

I thought about a full fledged DSLR like the Canon T3i when I first started conceptualizing what kind of camera I wanted to put in the air. I was thinking bigger is better since everyone hypes about DSLRs. The disadvantage of putting those cameras in the air is the weight...and the danger when they come crashing down. I purchased the Sony Nex 5n because it offered DSLR quality photos, it was light weight, and I could trigger the camera very easily by using GentLED infrared. You'll want a camera that you can easily remote trigger without having to tear it apart or hack some wires into it to get it to work. The lower weight will allow you to fly longer, plus you won't need to carry some massive ship with you on trips. You'll have to think about the cost that you are putting in the air too. The Canons and the Sonys are expensive. Combine that with the cost of your craft and think about all those little parts if they come crashing down. Build a craft that can carry a small point and shoot or something like the Sony Nex 5n. The Gopros are almost bullet proof when it comes to surviving crashes, but they are designed mostly for video. The Sony Nex 5n will take some very good pictures. Just make sure that your craft is reliable and can handle the weight before putting it up there. I bought the 20mm lens to reduce the weight of the camera for flights.

Thanks Dewster, how does the LED trigger work?

The infrared trigger works off of one of your receiver channels. It's a wire with an infrared LED that plugs it into a free channel. Program your transmitter and attach the LED to the infrared sensor on your camera. I bought the Sony Nex 5n because of it's weight, quality of photos/features and the fact that it could be remote triggered by infrared.

You'll have to match the GentLED with the camera you have or intend to buy. Check out this site:
