XAircraft Dissapointed in XAircraft quality yet again! Camera mount this time...

Considering the kits cost more than other comparable kits I am yet again angry and frustrated with the quality. If anyone else is looking to build an XAircraft kit, seriously do yourself a favour and DO NOT try with the included M2.5x6 screws - order some 3rd party ones before your kit arrives (the ones that DJI include with the F450 kit are a hell of a lot better and I used them on my X650 when I built that). The XA ones are shockingly soft and round out all the time. The tolerances on the screw holes for the camera mount are very poor and some screws go in easily whereas others need more effort and then round off leaving a stuck screw. Why did XA choose tiny 1.5mm hex screws when the DJI guys use the same size screw but opt for a 2mm hex which is a lot more solid?! SORT IT OUT XA, THE DJI KITS COST LESS AND ARE HIGHER QUALITY!!!

When I built the XAircraft X650 it too had the same poor quality M2.5x6 screws which didnt always fit smoothly in the holes and so wound up getting stuck. I, for some reason, didn't expect the same poor quality again from the camera mount kit and am sorely dissapointed considering the cost :(

I have dumped the kit back in the box and am trying to locally source some proper quality M2.5x6 screws. The large plastic gear that moves the pan/tilt mechanism is also deformed on one side and is bent in missing teeth!! I am hoping this side never comes in contact with the small cog (as it doesnt spin 360), so if I manage to get the kit together will find out if it is a problem.

I'm getting the same thing with the bolts from TBS, soft and easy to round. Even a wiha driver isn't cutting it. I ordered some dji bolts. there different than everything else. It's like there japaneese

gothelirc has a f450 frame plates and bolts for $16 i think he quoted me.......... sell off the plates and steal the bolts?

sucks, i know it's a rant on there board, just trying to get you happy. soft, rounded out, half tight bolts suck

You definitely want to at least source some better quality grub screws to replace the ones that secure the camera tray to the roll axis shaft. this has always been a problem for me, they need to be always checked and tightened and after a while they round off. when you get it together you will find that the performance reflects what you see on the XAUSA website videos, I'll leave it you to judge. Its a fine mount for AP rather than video, and if you need any spare parts (ie roll gear) I know xaircraft.co.uk have full inventory available at reasonable cost.
Just use loctite and dont overtighten those screws.

Go to your local hardware store and get a box of grade 8 hex head screws in the sizes you want. Stay away from round head hex bolts, too.
