Telink Multifun

So i bought my daughter a rmrc sky surfer, built it all up with eagle tree osd pro, RTH, etc. took it outside with her, tossed it up and it flew great, but my wife was calling off rssi and it was crap, 53, 10, 90, i was like wtf. tried bringing it down my runway (driveway) and came in a little hit, next thing i knew the thing pitched straight up and stalled. Watching the video, it failsafe RTH and the throttle cutoff, didn't go, whatever. Straight up, stalled, straight to it's nose for the smash of shame, 5 feet from my feet. I've been around the hobby a while, and this is the exact reason i hate planes. One crash and you got mush

fast forward a few weeks, had a heck of a time getting this thing here. retailer put the wrong address on the package, got returned, then got one finally on Friday. Telink is EU EPP. You can crash all you want and the frame stays put. you replace motors, shafts and props, but that's about it. I learned extreme 3d flying on one, so am pretty familliar with teh material. When put together with welders glue, it flexes and crashes but doesn't come apart. This is gonna be right up my alley. It is pretty much the same wing surface as the sky surfer, same length, but i decided i didn't want all that eagle tree stuff onboard, just too small so i went with a TBS CORE to power everybody and save space

Telink multifun
suppo 2212 1500kv
folding prop
castle 18 esc
hitec hs65mg all around (helps crash and fly factor alot)
eagle tree guardian
dragonlink
lawmate 2.4 500mw vtx
securitycam2000 pixim 690 line cam
720p keychain cam
anyvolt

As you can see, shes a mini so gopro was out of the question, but i still want to gather some kind of hd film or it's just not as fun for me so i tore apart a keychain cam, powered it with the flight pack and a anyvolt regulator so it's never out of juice (my biggest grip with them) and is solid mounted into the wing next to the flight cam. It is powered with 1800mah 3s. am hoping to see pretty long flight times, not expecting a whole lot of draw

as you can see shes almost ready to button up. Gonna make control rods next, go over radio programing with the guardian then shes ready to toss up and see if this one comes back. after it all checks out i'll finish tying up the wires and bare boards with plasti dip and welders.

99% sure i broke the antenna for the dragon link on the sky surfer was why it sucked so bad. that'll teach me to do better ground testing before throwing one up

tossed this thing up today for a quick buzz......... so the vids start off just a 48" foam plane in light breeze, then around 2:25 i kicked on the guardian and notice how the little girl straightens up and acts like a lady all nice and smooth. i love that guardian thing. There suppose to be making a flight controller for mr's right now. anyhow, the wing had a little bit of a soft spot i found after watching this right by the camera,,,,,, also last night i had tried tossing it up and the heading hold thing was fighting me like crazy till i stalled it, nose first. Bent the folding prop spinner, ordered another today to hopefuly get this recording a little smoother. might need to look into getting a new cam in there. It runs off the flight packs so all i strip everything off except the board and lens. memory slides out (soft spot in the wing) and it always has power. pretty cool little rig that you can crash and toss back up and try again. I'll have my daughter flying this thing first time out. The guardian locks it in to flat forward flight, touch the sticks it goes that way, let go it locks back in and sets course.

view out the flight cam with the tbs core osd

this is the plane sitting in front of a fan with the guardian enabled, balances it in the fan

tough as nails........ just need a pile of props, adapters and motors to keep the film clean. gonna order up a couple spare motors, think was $16 or something like that. the prop and folding spinner cost more than the motor

Not familiar with the gaurdian (will do some research), have you given any thought to trying it on a wing? seems to work like a charm. im guessing it some kind of leveling system. can you adjust it on the fly? meaning letting it have more or less input?

i have it as an integrated part of the zephyrs osd pro..... i've had a hard time with the other zephyr, i'm starting to think the dragonlinks the problem after the bixler went like it did then this one. I couldn't get 10 paces, should have seen a hundred paces with the range plug in.

I'm finding planes got alot going on when you fpv, to me makes quads a piece of cake. they go so fast and are so bumpy when things are bad

http://www.eagletreesystems.com/Guardian/index.htm

yes, it has a mode switch to go between 2d, 3d and off modes then i got the gain on a dial from off to 100% you gotta use one flick to reset level and trims, 2 flicks to reset trims only. by turning off the gains to flick the switch makes it less violent. It's a pretty cool gig, but really takes over control of your rig. makes a little one feel like a big one

tried cleaning this camera lens, but it's a gonner. Think it was packed with mud and it's one of them pinhole lenses so i ordered one of the new 808 #16 v2 and got the d lens, 120 degree wide angle. The v2 now has a few servo plugs to use it as a flight cam........

This should help capture the moments a bit better.
this was shot on 808 #16 with a d lens

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
we were talking about the Telink planes in another thread, i ended up buying a Techone Swift. same material, flies great, didn't think of burying FPV stuff in the foam though...hmmmm, maybe a good winter project. looks fun.

this is the exact plane i was trying to sell you on. Love the european epp, first flight out had it 30 feet up in a 3d attitude when all of a sudden it turned a little and the guardian wigged out and threw the rudder full left and i had zero control, fell 30 feet straight on it's nose. bent the motor, prop adapter and destroyed the props, but the plane was totaly fine. Straight down on asphault too. Everything i have that i like seems to try killing itself on my driveway every maiden

Finally got expo and rates programmed, shes really smoothing up fast. Going to the desert Sunday to FPV maiden this and maiden the zII then 3 days later were going to the river for labor day weekend, 5 days worth. This ought to get expensive. never had more than one working craft at a time down there.

right now i just want to take it out and see it go a couple miles on the deck, i'm sure once that gets boring i'll be screwing around. At full rates it's a 3d plane. huge control surfaces, alot funner than the sky surfer/bixler i tried before it. this one has bigger wings and crawls a snails pace to i'd guess 40ish.

Built it to teach my daughter fpv flying with. shes still a bit young, but trying to help her want to go and to get into it. Now i got her on rock collecting when we go but that's getting really heavy to come home with. ever see that I love lucy where the car pulling the airstream couldn't get over the mountain cause lucy filled it with rocks, thats us. shes 3 1/2 now

got the first fpv flight under it's belt. I was bummed, got there in the dark and it was blowing 10-15 in the dark, that's never good and never lays down till dark if it is so,,,,,, it was a bumpy ride. On this one the guardian never got past half gain and never got to oscilations. Honestly i couldn't figure out how to fly it with the guardian on till i flew the zeph a little later. it's like naza, self leveling, weird going into a turn and having to hold it over full stick to keep it in a mild turn. this flight was in the dark. i couldn't see anything except out the camera. had a truck near me that pulled in the dark too, but they were shooting guns. it was nerve racking

you can tell there like 1:15 where i make that turn over the hill and it's flying sideways. not bad for a little flimsy epp plane

when i flew yesterday naturaly i'm still learning "how to" with a new model and new ideas i've never done. you have to stop the recorder before you pull the plug or it corrupts the recording from the lack of the cameras battery. it runs off the flight pack, so i missed the better run down the mountain. Keeping in mind i was being hesitant and just wanted to fly em to make sure the video link worked, uhf signal was strong, etc. The other thing i was curious about was how the pixim 690 seawolf camera was in the dark. Took off at least a half hour before sunrise. sky was lit but the ground to the naked eye was black. it was sketchy at first, then when the cam switched over to color it was dark for a little bit, then evened out. If it hadn't been blowing, this thing would've been smoother than silk. it weighs 26oz, why so affected by the wind. 2212 motor, 9.5x6 prop, 200 watt

You can tell when your a fpv dork when this kind of video is better than the hd stuff to ya

This thing has individual gains and a remote main gain. i had all the indi. gains set to full (how it comes) and could barely turn on the main gain. I also found out that the whole time i thought i was reseting level flight that nothing was happening. Has to be done within the first 15 seconds of turning it on. i thought it wasn't tuning very easy. Last night i took a level to it and set the plane up flat and level and reset everything. Should be a whole different animal next trip out. One complaint i got about eagle tree is they got too much instructions

finally got this thing so can turn the gain all the way up and no oscillating. You can still tell shes a little plane, i haven't turned on any expo or rates yet and am flying line of sight so i'm not even trying to smooth turns, just trying to keep it home cause she'd love to take a ride down the river over there. it's a constant turn. The heading hold part on this thing is sick, i'm used to alot of rudder input shooting the runway here, i'm giving it none, gyros doing it all. I bet flown at the right time of day fpv this thing is gonna bring back some stories. Talk about not worrying about it

it took me half way through the flight to realize what the heading hold was doing. you have to push the rudder to let the compass reset a different position, just rolling it doesn't turn it anymore. it's got alot of stabilization going on. This is the mellow mode, the other mode takes it back to flat and level if you let go, this mode locks it into whatever attitude you put it last, so you push the sticks then let go. Other mode you gotta hold the stick int he position you want it to fly.

I'm so glad i built this thing. Lets me try stuff i'd never think of sending the quad off to do. This is gonna make my learning curve go alot faster. The 3d telink did the same thing. Anyways, it was windy so she shook a little. Last flight of the weekend i had a brownout a mile away on the deck. Put it in a tree. I'll find the picture and upload it later how i found it. Looked like it was for sale 3 feet from the road. Bullet proof

hmmm, got this 808 #16 cam a month ago, it was in the main when i got home from the trip above. slowly tore out the old, put in the new, moved the esc outside the fust and took a good sized piece of the heat shrink off my core to help it deal with hot weather. Just took it up, had to crop the video so th resolution got hacked a tad, had a timestamp, but i since increased the quality, took the timestamp off and am ready to fly it at the river again. if it goes and works, it'll move there....... starting to collect a few there too

not bad for a keychain cam
