Hello from SteadiDrone!

SteadiDrone

www.steadidrone.com
Hey guys (and I'm sure some girls), hope you are all well.

My first post here on this forum and hope to contribute and learn here. We've recently started a new drone manufacturing company, SteadiDrone, with the hopes and aim to provide top quality high-end airframes and RTF kits, at an affordable price range compared to what is currently available out there. Our SteeadiDrone H6X for example is less than half the cost of another system with more or less the same included extras. When starting our journey more than a year ago, we began with MK, which lead to a huge crash and then gave Arducopter a try, I don't see too much talk about this amazing system on these forums, but since switching to Arducopter, w've done well over 5000 flights, including big commerial jobs, feaure films and more, without a single issue at all. The Arducopter code is so good now, it's just amazing, and the features it includes, for FREE, are even more amazing and we've been using it on all our big octo EI8HT builds. Currently we are flying the Photohigher camera gimbals which are fantastic, but also have our own gimbal in the works.

Our airframes are pretty sweet and hopefully you guys think so as well, they feature a 'quick release' plug and fly arm system, with only a single screw per arm, which takes less than 2 or 3 mintues from in the case to in the sky. The motor wires remain soldered directly to the ESC but still allow the arms to be removed and folded down for travel in the included Pelican case (RTF kits) The way we've designed the airframe also puts all the ESC under than main frame, far away from the control board which removes any EMI and also drops the cog for better flight performance. I think our frames look pretty damm good too :) and offer red or black motor mounts and boom mounting parts. Below are some wuick pics of my drones we fly everyday, and obviously make up the SteadiDrone range, check out our website at www.steadidrone.com and please let us know your thoughts, comments and suggestions, we hope to provide you guys with the best possible frames at the lowest possible pricing, there are really high-end high quality airframes that work, everyday, all day.

Your stuff looks very cool...some good ideas in the construction and prices are very competitive. One little advice: since you will not only deal with South African customers, you should make it possible to show prices in US Dollars and Euros as well.

Otherwise I wish you all the best.

Where in South Africa are you situated ? I guess it will be somwhere in the Cape region....Western Cape ? I used to live in South Africa for about 6 years in Jo'burg, but spent some time in the Cape....one of the most beautiful pleaces on earth.

...oh man, you are killing me. I know Knysna very well....spent Holydays there and didn't want to go home. Post some Aerial Videos and you can start a travel agency, 'cause everyone would like to come.

Hey Duran, funny finding you around here. ;)

Are your new arms still using bullet connectors? You used to have the bullet connectors built into the hub, but now changed to the new system where the wires wrap around and through that slot. I assumed there were no connectors, and you just left the arms dangling by the wires, but now I'm not sure what you're doing.

Have you ever had a motor failure on your Octo, and how did it handle it?

I'm in Pretoria SA and just started both with MR and this forum.

Very interested to hear you have such confidence in ArduPilot. I've been looking at it and would like to try out on a home-build initially (to keep costs down).

Can I purchase stuff from you guys: Ardu, software, your CD & training HB etc?

I have a mech workshop with lathe etc and alu welding. My background is the Dark Science of HF SSB (shortwave single sideband) radio-frequency on design, manuf and qualifying eqpt for the military. So I should be able to put together a workable frame.

Which GPS unit do you use, or is it in-house? I've heard that DJI GPS doesn't work in Southern hemisphere(?).

Eventually I want to go the whole hog with S6Xrotor and all bell & whistles. You only claim short flight time and low range. Can these be improved and to what extent?

So glad there is a manufacturer in SA. If you need representation in Gauteng, let's talk!

Kind regards

Paul
