Batteries.. 3s or 4s ?

I have the DJI F450 quad with Naza kit and DJI motors, etc. I have been using 3S 3600 packs with 10" blades and getting about 7-10 min of flight. I am going to pickup a couple more packs today and was wondering... if I get a 4S 3800 14.8v pack, will I need to change anything on the Naza, with regards to settings, and will I get more flight time you think or should I just stick to 3S 3600 packs?

I think with 4s battery you will get more time and most important you can payload more.. but in other heands 4s lipo weight more...

I have Zippy 4S 5000 mAh 40C and quad with lipo weight is about 1.300g and fight time on normal turning commands (training for AV-video) is 22min. No sudden turns and so one.

Be very careful when you plug in that 4S for the first time, the helicopter can take off at idle if its too light.

I am just noticing that the high idle speed is linked to how high your basic gains are ! Start my C8 with 300 % plus results in a much higher idle speed than when i keep it down to 100% and bring it up later.

Thank you for all the info. I was at the LHS and of course, because it's nice outside perfect for flying, they did t have any of the 3S 3600 packs I am using. I looked at a 4S 2500 but thought I would wait to hear from you guys. I think I'll head back and grab a 3500+ 4S pack to try. My quad is heavy. It has an OSD camera, separate camera battery and a GoPro2 with the radio gear. It's a pretty heavy bird. I don't know the weight because I don't have a scale.

I bought a 450mAh pack for the 12V camera and that will cut the weight down because I've been using a 1300mAh pack which is fairly large alone. Was looking for an 800 but they had none. I hope to get 3-4 flights for the camera out of the 450mAh pack.

Again, thank you for the responses.

If you are heavy go with 4S and 8" props. I am using 4S 4000mah packs on mine with FPV gear and a GoPro and get 12 minute flights with the motors, esc's, and the battery coming down cool. It also seems much smoother than it was on 3S with 10" props.

imho the best thing to do is ditch the stock dji motors, as for 4s or even 3s they sometimes lack the power needed.
i upgaded to 2814's and the quad flies so much better :p

@mailman, since you mentioned it and im in need lol, what motors are you runnin, i checked out the tiger's look pretty sweet, but id also like to run 4s if i want do the tigers take 4s?

I don't understand this quote. I appreciate all the feedback. With regards to switching motors mailman, what motors are you recommending? Link?

So happens, I am concerned about one of the motors. You know if you turn the motor by hand, you feel the resistance in the magnets... all feel good but one, has almost no resistance. I guess the magnets feel weak in that one. Is this something to be concerned about?

I weighed the copter with the new 4500mAh 4S and I am at 1.6kg (wife found a cheap kitchen scale in the cupboard, not electronic)

Going through this now on my quad. Gain is at 100% on the video, going to try 85% next, then maybe remote gain for vertical if that doesn't help. Running 4s Spyder 5000 30c batteries.
