DJI Redundancy

Wow DJI must be really monitoring rcgroup forums.
There was some bashing about how an expensive S800 is only a hexa with no reduntancy and then Robert DJI USA said something is comming for hexas.
As far as I know flat octos flip if you loose a motor or prop connected to F1-F2 outputs. Hopefully the new firmware will fix those outputs as well and not only hexa configurations (S800).
But mine still lift's off without one prop, but when the prop broke in mid air the octo was on it's side with motors off in under a second.
So I don't understand what this video is showing.

interesting. I wonder what the difference is between a motor going out mid flight and starting out without a prop. Good to see finally.
like extepcted the redundance on the Hexa. Key thing is to straight gear against the movement eiterh left or right depending if you lost CW or CCW propeller. As well yaw ist not real available while you bring it down and back to you. In gusty situation it's getting very tricky to fly it.
Ed, I see you have the WKM in that Hexa, should the compass not try to compensate against that fault?
Edit: Just see you posted it's not your video so more a question to DJI regarding compass compensation.

I can confirm that the redondency works on hexa yesterday one motor stopped during flight for no reason and it wouldend start again until i unpluged the power for the wk-m o few times.
The CG was off so I wounder if there is build in safety in the WKM if one output is abnormal? I dont think it was the ESC becaurse the day before a did a Beer test with 4,6 Kg payload with no problems.
I have had 8 flights after the motor stopped with no problems and the CG spot on,

Last weekend I had first hand experience of the redundancy of the NAZA on my F550. Had one of the DJI prop's break (one side/blade broke off) and the NAZA picked it up seamlessly. About 3 seconds after the fist side broke off, the second side broke off and flew into another prop. exploding it. Fortunately I was able to descend to about 8 feet prior to the second prop blowing up. Of course the NAZA couldn't compensate for two props , side by side, being broke and she crashed. New props all the way around and flying like a dream again!
It may work fine on the small 550 frame but I have two separate videos that say otherwise on large and heavy hexa, both instances were on the Cinestar6. Motor went out in flight and in both cases there was no chance of recovery and believe me, I tried really hard to keep it in the air. First instance cost me an AV130 repair kit and a Nex 5N, the second being at a much lower altitude just bent the AV130 (again).
I would highly doubt those DJI videos were made with the current firmware, if anything they've done some work to make those happen.

I still wonder how much of a difference it makes when it breaks mid air as to starting off without a prop. Shouldn't make a difference but who knows.

There is new firmware in the works I believe with the redundancy feature. Heard rumors it will be released soon (couple weeks maybe). These are just what I have heard nothing factual. As always, until I know for sure I just can't say. I know its coming thou.
