Ok guys, so Bart posted a news story (click here) about a "aerial media company" in my home town Cleveland that has the FAA inspecting them for breaking a TFR (temp flight restriction). They have been the media baby for a local CH5 news.

This "company" of "Professionals" flys a Phantom and has been the bain of my existence here in Cleveland.

They have:
-Flown over people a lot
- Taken photos of crowds of 20,000 people while hovering over them
- Flown in areas monitored by security to "get the shot"
-Flown without permission many times
-have no insurance (except the AMA) And made a big deal about the AMA's insurance policy on their webiste
-ignored TFR's
-Launched their rig from the middle of a 500 person crowd. ( I have video of it from the bridge explosion)

After they ignored a TFR and launched a rig at a bridge explosion, the FAA contacted them. (DUH) and they actually responded to me thinking I called the FAA on them. I did not. AS obviously I don't want the FAA anywhere near here!

SO... going back a sec, after witnessing them do all of the above listed at the bridge explosion I emailed them and said PLEASE start respecting the craft. That many professional people like myself have over $50K invested into our companies, have ACTUAL insurance (non AMA) and an LLC and their actions are shining a bad light on us all. I also stated that they don't start flying safely and abiding by some professional standards I will make an effort to reach out to the local media and let them know that there are companies that do not do what they do as it is unsafe and not professional.

These guys ignored me until the FAA contacted them... and There defense was "I didn't know".

Anyways.. this is the buttheads response to me.

Dear Stephen “Snitch”,

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, I am unable to help you out here. Typically in life, you will get what you want by having respect for others. I have received your hateful emails, I have personally seen the nasty comments you have left mentioning us on our news stories, and I’m over it all. We would be more than interested in speaking with you in person, but we realize that this isn’t something that your credentials as “Forum King” would do. If this becomes more of a reoccurring issue, I highly suggest seeing a psychiatrist.

Food for thought:
You’ve never had the integrity to get to know us.
You’re very judgmental.
But we understand, you’re a professional?...

News for you:
We started flying less than a year ago.
You started flying 25 years ago….

It’s clearly a misunderstanding on my part.

You’re jealous because you don’t know how to market yourself.

Please keep your personal issues to yourself because WE TOO will not tolerate disrespect.

PLEASE... PLEASE... PLEASE... inundate these morons with emails, phone calls , web messages letting them know that being a professional requiers morals.

I don't know how to market myself? I market myself to high end clients. Not doing golf course for $45...

This guys and his buddies have no idea about anything and they need to know that the INDUSTRY is not cool with their antics.

Sop guys.. help me!

How unfortunate. It doesn't sound like there is much possibility for resolution here. Why not just distance yourself as much as possible and let them dig their own grave? Given your description they are their own worst enemies so they are bound to get themselves in serious trouble eventually. Meanwhile go out there and do professional work including educating those interested in this type of work.

I am trying, but they keep getting media attention. And my ONLy concern is that my clients always ask me "Was that you that did blah blah blah".
And I have to keep explaining No it was not me.

I simply asked these guys to think a bit more and they took offense to it and said I need to market myself better. Like my email to them was a jealous one. It wasn't. it was a PLEASE don't bring all of us down with your stupidity.

Looks like the company has been forced to clean up their act, just as you tried to help them do. Too bad they didn't listen to you earlier. http://www.suasnews.com/2014/07/302...y-after-drone-flown-during-bridge-demolition/
So it's all worked out in the end. But I'd still distance myself from them as much as possible.

Frankly, their demo vids are shaky and movement is exaggerated by speeding up the video. Not very eye appealing and I had to giggle at the pix of the two guys. The only thing missing are pocket protectors and adhesive tape on the glasses. I guess by putting those glasses on the "Cam Girls" they already figured that one out.

I see them as a couple enthusiasts who decided to turn a bit of a profit from their hobby and not much different them most of us. Their problem seems to be ignorance of the law, which is no excuse, but as for "FAA Compliance" they still have pictures for sale which is far from compliant at least at this point. "No profit taking", guys. :dejection:

I, like many, still believe that the Regs are designed for full size aircraft but that the FAA has over stepped its bounds but not it's authority. That is yet to be ironed out but it will be ironed out at the speed of government which only happens over night by executive order and I don't see his highness getting involved in this aspect of the "drone" arguments so I don't think anyone should get their hopes up about an early resolution.
The extended comment time if pretty common and should not have anything read into it other then the FAA is at least looking at the letters and petitions. It happens when most issues are posted in the Federal Register mostly because agencies of the Feds are unable to do things in a timely manner. It's a bogged down system and not likely to change.

We can but hang in there and wait and see what happens. In the mean time if you want to "Bust the Rags" do it quietly and stay out of, and away from, the media. Until this dust settles, there really is no "good press".

A for the rest of us flooding them with emails and letters,,,, I don't see that happening and agree with dazzab. Stay clear of them. Than again you could always make them disappear, "Chicago Style" just don't put it on video. :tennis:

All people are super sensitive and become defensive very quickly if confronted about a personal flaw or poor decision, which is one reason why it is so important to develop a positive relationship first.
A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still!
Dale Carnegie's book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" comes to mind.

I have worked with them for about two months and received no pay from them whats so ever. They don't care who they hurt or who's name they run into the ground to get what they want. They have no idea how to build or set up any type of multirotor and are totally clueless on any safety procedures regarding these aircraft. As I was on the inside, they continue to fly and get paid regardless of what the FAA tells them. They have received a compliance letter from the FAA but they choose to ignore it and fly anyway, receiving money. I too have letters from Micheal Hach and it seems he is a little worked up about me leaving.
