Hey Guys, Ive been looking around a little bit and was wondering what the on screen display exactly does, is it the pitch, rpm, altitude etc.? Whats the difference between this and telemetry systems? And finally is it just an plug-n-go so attach to the transmitter or is there an specific component I would need? Thanks for the help,, K723

It is basically a bit of both, your onboard telemetry gets displayed as On Screen Display, so think of something you could have telemetry for and you can have it displayed in your goggles.

Generally the main thing MR'ers like to have displayed is mh used and maybe pack voltage.

For those that like to fly a bit further they might add a GPS, so info such as how many satellites can be seen, direction to home, speed, height, etc may be used.

If you really want to clutter up your screen then you can also have altitude ladders, artificial horizon and it goes on.

Personally I like having mH consumed and that is about it, I am getting together some longer range gear so will add GPS when I get that happening.

Cheers.

Hi Pete, Do you have any reccomendations to get the ladders and the point-of-origin location? I was looking at some of the Dragon OSD and Immersion OSD stuff. Any reccomendations? Thanks, Jake

you really want enough room if your gonna stack a bunch of gear onboard. A smaller rig doesn't have enough seperation to make "any old" system work. Small quad friendly osd's are ezosd (easier if you use ezuhf), dji osd lite, TBS Core........ i'd skip eagle tree unless your doing a plane, skip dragon link altogether unless you dig problems or are totaly fine with a turnigy 9x radio......

heres a few osd's

eagle tree

old tbs core

new tbs core

ruby osd

dji iosd

Kloner,

on the DJI iosd, how do you get the overlay of the LED flashes on the screen...? That's pretty neat!

Sorry, I see now what you've done - my bad! I see the LED unit actually stuck to your frame arm. I thought the cable was spliced, then looped into your video someway. I saw a video a while back, where a guy had spliced it, and had the flashes coming through on a tiny corner of his Hero 2 feed.

Eagle Tree is not much bigger than the EZOSD, the main unit of the EZ is a bit of a lump. Does depend what you are mounting it on though.
