How can i reduce the resolution of the nex-5 hdmi output? i got this quadrocopter hdmi converter and it is transmiting 1080 60p and overheats the board. thanks
figured it out. had hdmi res on auto,,,,,, somehow between one day to the next auto flipped from 60i to 60p and stuck.... got it hard set to 60i and now shes nice and cool again. Dam stuff, learn something every day.......
it's on amazon too and ships from the states, might even be some in your parts. The camera powers it..... just as good but it's big..... has audio that we don't really need but uncased it's not too much bigger.
that one he refrenced is the spendy one from kopterworks.... this is the cheapo, both work good. just bail the case and the rca's and you got a comperable for less than $50
Fantastic thread, damn near anything Kloner and Chris chimes in on is always of value to me as a videographer just getting my head into this stuff.... Thanks for such valuable info!
glad to see this topic come up from time to time thanks for the info Kloner and Chris....just ordered the chinese one, no local shipping though so it might be a couple of weeks. thanks for posting that pic Chris, i had been wondering if the Kopterworx one was the same as the smaller chinese one.
for the hdmi cables, it's been tough to find an angled cable. the cable in the pic started as a straight connector but was modified to be angled. it wasn't too hard, the big plastic strain relief plastic peels off with a little effort and the underlying clear material is like hot glue and will let you bend it if you put a heat gun on it for a bit. some heat shrink after that and it's ready to go.
theres a cable called hyper light, is that whats shown? it can make a really tight fit, with the plastic removed it'll fold over right after the mini c hdmi.... the kopterworx one comes with a cable, the other doesn't. the chineese one is regular hdmi at the converter so it takes a cable like this
the cable in the photo is the standard 8" one from ebay (I'm pretty sure). i wonder how long the hyperlight one is, i'm not much of a fan of carrying around a 12" cable where I only need six. weight is a wash if it's a heavy 6 or a light 12. i like the fact that it is so light and flexible though.
is the kopterworx cable light weight or like the standard USB?
the feefly cable is standard weight but has the nicest mini c 90 you'll find... only it's mini c on both ends, and the cheap hdmi are minic on one, standard on the other.
The rcheli cable is long, i'd guess 18" long but it fits a av200 great...... can route it cleaner
Had an HDMI2AV that required USB power... Let the smoke out muckin around. Turns out they're nearly impossible to find!! AV2HDMI is the wrong one - you need the HDMI2AV! Good news is that www.rcshutter.com started carrying them and even better; the new one I recvd does NOT need addl usb power to operate. Glad I smoked the original even happier Tezcan is stockin em.
