DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

Hey all, I'm about to upgrade the F550 to UHF and upgrade the Naza with the GPS module. I understand that EzUHF is the way to go? Where to get the best price on one? Also, same question with the Naza GPS, best prices are where? I'm about to buy both so any help is appreciated! Thanks.

I don't know about prices but I would like to see this done. I would like to switch to UHF with my Naza and my future WKM to.

Will this really work? I've heard of thing going horribly wrong. I hope we can start a thread about best UHF systems to use with DJI and best most reliable setups.

Yes it does work and many people already use this setup. I found the GPS module here, see below, for $169.99 which isn't bad. Adding the GPS module made a HUGE difference and I wouldn't fly without it now. For UHF you need to use EzUHF as I hear the others are buggy and I believe most people on here use EzUHF stay away from Dragon Link.

If you want the best uhf system, then look at Thomas Scherre UHF. Absolut the best of all!

none of them are as compatible as ezuhf.... sherrer was a big deal when these came out, but there just aint a comparison a few years later. with a 4c lite rx, you can stream up to 12ch ppm. ezuhf is fully compatible with every radio on the market, dragon only works well with turnigy 9x, sheerer can also have compatibility problems with alot of radios. ezuhf is re-mapable so it can be used with flght controllers like dji with spektrum or jr rdios with ch1 throttle and ppm cable instead of all of the pwm cables like you'd have to with any other brand

I've regularly had mine miles away on the ground and gobs of rssi left. i've never lost a model with ezuhf. i strted with dragonlink and lost 2 model in a few weeks all DL compatibility related. problem right now is it's the begining of the new model year and supply is just hitting the shelf so there hard to get. usually after memorial weekend most of the inventory makes it to the shelves and it gets alot easier to find. readymade had tx's yesterday nobody has diversity rx but there starting to show up. getfpv had a few the other day. TBS has some

As always Kloner you have all the answers I guess it's because you've used them all and have 50 models I haven't upgraded to EzUHF yet but I do intend to once I get my long rang Zephyr built. I'm happy with my 8FG (yes that's what I ended up with) and FAAST, I can easily go a mile without any glitching or anything like that and for most MR's that's far enough. Have you seen my new Y6 yet? I crashed my F550 so that's done but this new Y6 is SICK!!

After reading a lot about different long-range systems, I decided to go with the EzUHF from Immersion....best support, widely used and totally compatible with my EzOSD and Immersion Tx / Rx....http://www.immersionrc.com/products.htm

But you have to be aware of a few things:

The best Long-Range system doesn't help you if your Video down-link can't cope with the distance....in my case (5.8 Ghz 600 mW Transmitter and Dual Receiver V2 from Immersion) I can get a good range, depending on the enviroment, within line-of sight....but then it's over. So to increase your video-link, you need a good antenna tracker (I got this one: http://www.myflydream.com/product?id=1&name=12CH-AAT-Package) and special antennas (cloverleaf and/or helical).

To set up the Naza on my TBS disco with the EzUHF and my Futaba T14SG was a never-ending nightmare.....I tried PPM connection (one cable like S-Bus), I tried PWM connection (traditional, one cable per channel)...nothing worked. Then I was reading I have to up-date to the latest software/firmware version....I did....same crap as before. Problem was, the stick input would never center in the NAZA assistant.....I was reading every post on the EzUHF support forum: http://fpvlab.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?22-ImmersionRC....tried a million different things....no success....although with the PWM connection I got better results than with single cable PPM....I was close to throw that stuff against the wall.....funny enough, other people reported it worked straight out-of-the-box...

Got it from Denmark.....hooked it up....worked straight away. The beauty is, you can actually use any Radio (Futaba, Jeti, JR, Turnigy....) with this system. It's proven to work with the Immersion EzUHF.

5V 9V 12V output, 10.000 mAh !!! for the price of $ 50...no Lipo can beat that.

Big +: no need to strap the UHF transmitter to your radio, and it works.


Forget that damn "What's the best ?" approach....just get your share of back-ground knowledge and then decide.....and don't expect the whole thing to be just plug-and-play .....

What are we looking at here Chris? So you'll need 2 receivers? I'm kind-of guessing but it looks like you have a standard receiver there hooked into a UHF transmitter that would then transmit to your receiver on your model? Is that right? What's the difference between hooking the UHF unit straight to your transmitter besides you don't have to have it physically connected? I know you said you had some issues but I think the reality here is that the only thing you've done is make your UHF unit portable and spent more money then you needed to. Am I wrong here?

Not really.....first I connected the EzUHF transmitter to my Futaba via the trainer port....the EzUHF was on the Copter. Signal was going from the Futaba through the Trainerport into the EzUHF, from there to the EzUHF transmitter......what I was reading was the a lot of radios don't produce a clean / compatible PPM signal output at the trainer port.....

Now the signal goes from the Futaba Tx to a normal Futaba compatible receiver. This receiver is hooked up to the Longrange repeater.....and the Repeater is then producing a clean PPM stream which goes to the EzUHF receiver.....

So the main difference is the source of the PPM signal, and it looks like that the Longrange Repeater is producing a much more usable signal compared to the signal coming from the Futaba Trainer port....at leat with the NAZA.

Chris, I believe there is a known bug with the EzUHF system and several of the NEW Futaba radios. I know for sure there is a known bug with EzUHF and the Futaba 8FG and they have a Beta fix out for it right now. I'm assuming that the internals to the 8FG are probably the same or similar to the Futaba T14SG and I'm going to guess "exactly the same" as far as the transmitter portion goes. I almost bought the EzUHF system until I saw this warning below...oh looks like they may have fixed it actually, check it out. I'm not sure when EzUHF v1.41 came out but it appears to resolve those issues.

Either way, I really like the idea of sharing my radio battery with my EzUHF system, when I get one, because my radio will alert me to a low battery whereas with your setup I'm not sure you'd know without a separate way to monitor it like maybe a battery buzzer or something like that. Thoughts?

I have been on the latest FW 1.41....didn't help in my case.

Interesting and good to know, I'm going to hold off on the EzUHF for a while until I hear people using it with the 8FG without any issues. I really don't need it right now as I don't like to fly further than a mile anyway because it would probably take me 12 minutes to run that far LOL... Thanks for the info!
