Batteries: Hard Pack vs. Soft Pack

Is there any reason not to use Hard Case type lipos (besides weight) over Soft Flight Pack type for a multi ?

not really, it's for crashing like in a car and you'll find alot of em kinda car specific size, volts, etc.
