Mikrokopter Which heat sink to get for BL's?

Hey all,

Been looking at getting a set of heat sinks for my other okto distro board but wanted to get some opinions about which ones to get. I have found them at three different sites and all the pictures are different so I am not sure which is best and they are a range of prices.

View attachment 3869 $14.99 set of 4

View attachment 3870$16.88 set of 4

View attachment 3871 $1.20 each ($4.80 set of 4)

Obviously the last one is the best price but it only has four lengthwise fins. Would this one provide as much cooling as the first one with many thin fins?

Thanks,

Shawn

Shawn, the more surface area a heat sink has the better it is able to dissipate heat. The first ones you list clearly have the most surface area by virture of the number of fins. As a practical matter all three would be better than nothing and between the three the difference in temperature drop might only be a few degrees at most so you could go with the best deal and still get effective cooling. But, if we split hairs, maximum performance would come from the first ones.

I have a set of those in the first pic on my FPV quad, they fit perfectly and work quite well. Whatever you decide to go with make sure to use Arctic Silver thermal epoxy to glue them on, if you google it you can find it fairly cheap. I recently bought some from a computer store in Katy, TX for $9.95, cheapest price I could find anywhere... http://www.bestbyte.net/merchant/me...=BB&Product_Code=COTIASASA&Category_Code=COTI
