XAircraft Taranis and Super X thread

As the proud new owner of a Taranis radio I have NO clue how to set it up but figured a thread might help others like me setup what appears to be an awesome radio with our awesome flight controller.

I've got the radio that comes with the X8R receiver, is this a good rx? My knowledge is limited to Spektrum and UHF gear so please forgive my newbie questions.

1) The X8R says it has telemetry but there's no separate telemetry module like with a Spektrum rx. Does the X8R transmit the telemetry back to the radio by itself?
2) How do I get rid of the ratchets in the throttle stick?
3) Anyone care to share their Taranis/SuperX model with me?
4) I see a port on the X8R for RSSI, is this analog or digital and can it be used with an OSD?

I'm off to search for the mega Taranis thread I've heard about to see what answers I can find in there as well.

I look forward to using this radio with my SuperX setups!

So you guys with the Super X and Taranis, are you using the SBUS port and getting 16 channels? That would be SWEET!

S.BUS channels will only be limited by TX, so yes, you will get 16! SuperX will grab 1-7 on S.BUS.

Super X port X to SBUS (X8R), re-bind the X8R (short out ch 1&2) to the radio and then ports 1 to 8 on X8R become ports 9 to 16.

i'm using the Taranis and X8R reciver. It wokrs perfect. Just bind it for 16channels, and plug in your sbus. Name the channels 1-8 (i use 1-7) as the superx manual tells.
I run the copter without propps outside to se if i get all flightmodes and safemode to work, just check in the blackbox.
The only thing that is a little hard to get is all sensors with smart plug. Where do i get them?

I have the GPS V2 sensor, Lipo monitor and Current sensor, there are many more available, I don't know where you live but if you Google what you are after I'm sure you will find it.

I think RangeVideo.com has a lot of stuff. I'm still learning but I did see a lot of Taranis stuff on there site. They seem to have higher prices though.
